Since they have recently said that they are going to keep updating FFXI with story and battle content, I think that asking them to essentially port anything from there will do no good imho, apparently the game is still profitable for them or they simply care about it that they want to keep it going as such I don't really see them copiying it to a new game.
I think However SE should work to fix 1.0 leftover problems that are still impairing the game to this day
