    Knight and Paladin in FF are very similar to each other with the biggest difference being that Paladin has a slightly more holy/magic focus. They also rarely if ever appear together.

    After looking a bit into each iteration of those jobs, it seems that the only real Paladin (As パラディン) is Cecil. Every other version is either "Oh, this character is sturdy and can use a bit of White Magic, so it must be a Paladin" (So, the first Dark Knight fits, too) or "Let's translate ナイト into Paladin". So, technicaly, "Paladin" never appeared in any FF with a real "job system".
