I do understand that this may be a lot more difficult for people with dyscalcula, but that's no different from people with dyslexia having to read onscreen instructions (which are a lot more prolific). It would be almost impossible for a developer to write a game which doesn't, at some point, affect someone with a disability.
Speaking of "learned" in school, in formal writing, coordinating conjunctions (for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so) are disapproved as sentence starting words. In addition, is "learnt" a word? Oh, and you forgot the comma after "and if not". Have some sympathy for those with math weaknesses Mr. Perfect English. When people attempt to make others feel that their skills are inadequate, it may just point out their own.

KeaneR was actually polite about the fact that there is no way for devs to keep every disability under the sun in mind when creating fight mechanics- someone out there is going to have a harder time of it no matter what they do. It's the simple truth. The Construct 7 fight is actually very generous, probably because they were aware that some people wouldn't be able to do the job quickly or possibly at all without assistance. You can focus entirely on adding up to the right number and not be punished for it. People with the same HP as you can show you where to go or you can keep a handy chart ready if need be as well. The numbers are small enough that someone on voice chat can give you directions while they sort themselves out too. And given time, this mechanic won't even kill you if you mess it up due to ilvl stat inflation. It only happens twice to boot.

I have a lot of sympathy for people's weaknesses. My own phobias made the whole Ruby Sea section a nail-biting nightmare for me. But I won't ask the devs to make work-arounds or accommodate since it is one tiny part of a much larger game. People have called me silly or stupid or said "wow it's just a game/swimming underwater, why are you so worked up over it?" and it's pretty much impossible to explain that I can't help it, I can only manage and control it. It's the same deal here- this mechanic unintentionally sucks for a small part of the playerbase. They're wrongly getting insulted as being intellectually challenged and probably feel bad that they're struggling in a way that they didn't really expect to in a video game. But the devs can't tip-toe around every single phobia or disability and still create a game worth playing. I dealt with Ruby Sea as well as I could, and players with dyscalcula are managing as best they can too. They're not helpless and incapable of doing basic things... it just takes more effort to get the job done.

If you had taken the trouble to read my whole post, you would have ascertained that I do have sympathy for those with maths weaknesses.

What even was the point of this response? Do you even know? Do you understand how comparing English to mathematics, especially on these forums, is silly for numerous reasons? Are you even self-aware enough to recognize that your entire post is one big straw man fallacy? Probably not, would be my guess.

PS: "Learnt" is indeed a word, by the way. I'm surprised you didn't know that since you so succinctly dissected the rest of their post with so much authority. I also particularly enjoy how you neutered your own nonsense "argument" by specifically pointing out that those are rules recognized and expected in formal writing when we're communicating in a very informal setting.

The issue I have here is with the posters that act like people that have difficulties with completion of this mechanic should be ashamed of themselves, e.g., "You can't count on your fingers?", or are less than intelligent implying they should have learned this in school. I know myself when raiding in this game especially, that in the midst of constant aoes and mechanics, the last thing I need to break focus is something that makes me have to stop and do a computation. Many people are fine with it, many are not and I guess after reading all the negatives I just picked one that irked me and commented.

Thanks to the people that are actually putting forth the effort to make little graphs or explain it by example in their posts. That is how it should be approached and not by being negative or belittling.

I had no intention of belittling anyone. My point was that they haven't gone overboard with the calculation requirement and kept it to very basic maths. I also made a point of saying that I understood how this could be hard for some people and had sympathy with that. I fully appreciate this can be difficult for some, but as I said, it's no different to people with dyslexia having to quickly read and react to onscreen written instructions.

You tried your best in your post to "belittle" me. Didn't work though, because you didn't get your facts straight.

Thankfully nothing else is happening at any time these need to happen.
