What is it lately with tanks refusing to use their tank stances in Brayflox (MSQ version)? It seems like every time I get it in leveling roulette lately, tanks just refuse to use their tank stance. Even when asked to put it on so aggro won't be all over the place.

I can understand if it was a new tank, since Brayflox is one of the first dungeons that you use jobs in and a new tank may not realize that tank stance is a thing. But most of these are people with either one or more tanks at 50+ (or even multiple jobs at 50+), so one would hope that they would know to use the stances, even if they get synced down.

One potential reason is if the tank is still a class (Marauder / Gladiator), they don't have access to a tank stance like the jobs do (Warrior / Paladin / Dark Knight).

I had apparently unlocked Dun Scaith (sp?) a while back (likely in heavensward), forgot about it...never did it...Didn't even realise I had DS unlocked.

And then got it in roulette out of the blue. :| So... much... death alliance-wide. XD I thank the Eorzean gods that I went in as bard. XD Here is how I died: in the first few seconds, I got swallowed up by the black hole thing and kept getting swallowed up by it, so died. Second time I died I ran off the ship (LOL). Third time I died, the hole got me again. After that, I decide just click on one of the more vocal/knowing players and FOLLOW THEM WHEREVER THEY GO, and suddenly my death rate decreased drastically but I still died another two times at least.

I now understand why Dun has the rep that it has... Mech wise, it definitely seemed easier/less extensive than Ridorana and the Rabanastre, but there are some very unforgiving spots. xD It was actually kinda neat, too. Reminded me of the Hunchback of Notre Dame setting.

I qued up for in-prog leveling roulette on my SAM to get that last bit of EXP I needed to hit 70. I pop into aurum vale, because of course people like to just leave fro whatever reasons because the dungeon is kinda annoying. The healer was new, and decently geared on her left side (armor) and abysmally geared on her right side (accessories). The tank and other dps were veterans. The dps that left probably saw how under geared the healer was and bolted before the going got tough, nonetheless we persisted. The dungeon isn't that hard as long as your eating for poison healing fruit :P

Of course we had some rough patches along the way, thankfully our new little WHM was more than willing to learn and I , a veteran healer, was more than happy to offer advice. I made sure to point out to her that she needs to upgrade her accessories ASAP because they weren't doing her any favors. She had issues managing her mana but that was about it. The rest of the team made sure to try to take as little damage as possible.

Haha I even got us all murdered by accidently tagging the other morbel while we were focusing down one at a time, so that was my own fault. In the end we got the run done, and it didn't take too long. And she seemed happy to have had a team that supported her, I hope she learns more and grows as a healer! ^_^

For warrior at least, the Lv34 sync puts you in an awkward place where it gives you the beast gauge but you can’t actually do anything with it (as you learn Inner Beast at 35) so perhaps people are thinking it’s therefore not worth it at that point? I realise that it does actually help in other ways, and I do use it, but the useless gauge makes me feel like I’ve only got “half a skill” - even though it’s probably no different to Shield Oath which doesn’t have a gauge at all. (Can’t comment on dark knight as I’m not familiar with it.)

I know personally I will drop stance on WAR in Brayflox especially if the healer isn't really dpsing - no reason both of us have to be contributing no damage. Plus at that level Berserk+Overpower is actually solid AoE DPS so I wouldn't want to cut it by 20%.

DRK has Blood Weapon (which is also a dps gain) but which can't be used in Grit so to use the ability they need to drop tank stance.

I'm not that sure about PLD, it's the job I know the least about when it comes to tanks, but I would imagine similar dps-related reasons. If they're losing hate feel free to point it out to them but I would generally look at it more as them being in psuedo-DPS-stance, since each can do more damage at that point without tank stance on.

If you are level synched for a dungeon, then it will turn the stances off. When I queue I have my tank stance on, and after the synch I do forget to turn it on again. Since I'm not always play as a tank I do forget about this...

Okay so I just got a huge dose of why Lucid is awesome for a RDM (copied from my RDM thread, but it also doubles as an awesome Duty Finder tale, definitely a "I wish I was streaming at the time" thing).

Did a Sohm Al with a rather bad healer.

Got to the last boss, she dies at 60-70% left on Tioman. So, I pick up role of main healer while throwing Fleche when possible. The 2nd DPS (a SAM) dies right after the wings phase. It was just simply impossible to keep 3 people up with Vercure, though I tried to keep him up as long as I could because we needed what little DPS we could get.

Constantly casting Vercure over and over and over and over again, fight took absolutely forever, we got her down to 20% and I only had 1k MP left. Popped Lucid and it was enough to carry us through the rest of the fight. I won with like 1200MP to spare though I think if the fight had gone on another 5 seconds, I might have gotten clipped with her star attack, I didn't notice it while casting Vercure and I was like "oh crap oh crap not now" and then the screen went black and WHEW. We won.

Roulette dumped me into the Ultros trial, and if you are unaware it has a little... problem.

If you get knocked off you just flat out die, instantly. First run wipes due to severe snort because if you fall off you die. Cohealer bailed (can't say I blame them) but I stuck around to see if it'd succeed. Ended up 7 manning it but since one dps died and I was solo healing I got imp'd. Unfortunately everyone fell off to severe snort again except me where I ate a tankbuster to the face.

At that point we had a few new people joining but people were leaving faster than it was filling. Sorry bonus person whoever you were! You might need to PF it for now.
