To be fair that is all Viera areThat's the problem. If SE add Viera, they won't be like Fran. They'll be more like the Advance version of them. I hate how more human they look in that game (Maybe it's the art style, I don't know). We won't get the long arms and/or High Heels. Without those, it's just an elf race with bunny ears..
The argument of "but it's just a hyur with <insert animal parts>!" is tiresome. At this point, SE is obviously sticking with humanoid races. However, they all come with rather distinct body shapes, very different facial features and different mannerisms through their emotes/poses.
That's my point. I agree that SE wants the whole "kemonomimi" thing as a rule of thumb. But we -can- ask for more nuance to the races while also expecting a new one and Viera is the highest one in demand. The issue as it stands is that the "duality" of the current races is of so little relevance they might s well not exist as races but as cultures. For all the lore this game has, the racial depth and its exploration as a culture in the game's universe is shallow AF.The argument of "but it's just a hyur with <insert animal parts>!" is tiresome. If you say so.
I was agreeing with you! Sorry if it didn't come off that way. lol :XThat's my point. I agree that SE wants the whole "kemonomimi" thing as a rule of thumb. I agree 100% and it's probably the one thing that bothers me the most about FFXIV. When I try to introduce friends to FFXIV and FF in general, I clarify to them that FFXIV is but a washed out, shallow version of other FF games in terms of cultural and racial diversity because I just don't think FFXIV is that appealing racial/cultural wise. I would honestly like to see more creative races as a whole, like Yuke, Lilty (in lieu of lala), Ronso, Garif (unf, yes), bangaa, et cetera... But I think the more creative races would likely be lumped in with beast clans in FFXIV's lore. I'd also like to see clan culture actually come into play (they did wonderfully with the au ra, I think, but the rest don't seem to have that, or at least not to that extent.).
I don't see any race in XIV having any depth either, much of what is in lore (book and in-game anecdotes) is not fully explored/conveyed as a culture for each race, only exception is the Xaela, which is beside the point if we are being fair.
But, focusing back on the topic. The concept art did show that they would fall in the range of highlanders/elezen, which would be pretty nice.
