Only High landers are inherently masculine
Miqote and Midlanders are anyones game can be masculine or elegant etc etc
Unless you include Au ra,Roe and elezen as "Human size"
Elezen are not very masculin anyway
Yeah, I agree. I would only call highlander hyurs as "quite masculine" when it comes to human-sized, Roes as well if you want to include all races. Even Au Ra males (above human size) are quite svelte/elegant in build (with somewhat feminine thighs) so I'd lump them with the rest of the pretty boys, haha.
Yeh no, not really. You don't need to be hugely muscular to be classified as 'masculine'. Bodyshape and mannerisms play just as much a part.Yeah, I agree. While Miqos and Hyur aren't super hugely muscular, their bodyshape in combination with how the gear in this game is designed does indeed make them look more masculine than anyhing. (Masculine as in broader shoulders, thinner waist/hip area etc. the typical 'triangular' shape)
The only way to make them appear less masculine (or more 'feminine', as thats pretty much the only other option) or 'elegant' as you call it (elegance and masculinity are NOT mutually exclusive btw.) is forcefully dressing them up in stuff that would be called more traditionally feminine by IRL standards. Flowier robes, longer hair, things like that.
And even then you'd still have to contend with the broader shoulders, relatively muscular arms etc.
The same more or less counts for Elezen as well as Au Ra except it can be harder to hide due to bodyheight and even broader shoulders. (In fact, Elezen and Hyur share the same bodytype, Elezen are just more stretched out, including the shoulders.)
Au Ra thighs aren't 'feminine', they may appear thicker than usual, but only because they are muscular. Which would stereotypically be called a masculine feature.
Oh and btw, being a 'prettyboy' and being masculine are also not mutually exclusive. Its called being handsome. :P
The point being: People asking for 'less masculine' builds (masculine meaning shoulders wider than hips) likely aren't asking not to be bodybuilders, they are asking for bodytypes that are less inherently masculine, i.e slender framed, narrower shoulders, less naturally muscular, possibly (but not neccessarily) wider hips etc. They don't want to 'dress up' their character less masculine, they want a less stereotypically masculine body to begin with.
And considering females get less 'feminine' (broader shouldered, more muscular) options already this is not an unfair thing to ask.
At least thats how I understand the issue.![]()
Without trying to derail the thread too much, it really is an excellent game. It can be quite difficult because there is no way to grind levels, as all enemies scale with you and you can actually outpace your own gear if you aren't careful. And there are tons of theorycrafting pages across forums. My recommendation would be downloading PPSSPP (PSP Emulator) on either a tablet or Windows, grabbing the PSP version ISO, FFT: War of the Lions, and playing that one. Some voiced cutscenes and additional jobs/quests. But be prepared to sink 100+ hours into it if you aren't using cheats!
That's the problem. If SE add Viera, they won't be like Fran. They'll be more like the Advance version of them. I hate how more human they look in that game (Maybe it's the art style, I don't know). We won't get the long arms and/or High Heels. Without those, it's just an elf race with bunny ears..People want Viera because Fran. Viera showed up in 12, and people have loved them ever since. Make no mistake, I am inclined to agree about the Tactics Advance games, or at least the first one. I resigned not to play it as soon as I heard about the judge nonsense in that game.

When you consider how aware they are of the Viera design.
Its not a matter of them not doing justice, is them being aware that as is, they can't.“I don’t think you should give up hope. I mean we’re hoping Final Fantasy XIV will have a very long lifespan. With that being said. Fran and the Viera race have a very high heel and trying to depict that in Final Fantasy XIV is challenging. They won’t be able to wear any shoes that exist in Eorzea right now.” -

If you say so.
To be fair that is all Viera areThat's the problem. If SE add Viera, they won't be like Fran. They'll be more like the Advance version of them. As much as I would like to see Viera, I personally want to see more customization options for the races we already have.
It just feels like Xaela-clan Au ra got short-changed on customization options compared to Raen.
