What? You mean they only make "Kupo" noises when I draw my weapons, and not when I hit something?!?
This just outrages me. I am so not paying for this unless they squeak when I hit something. This game is ruined. How could they do something like that? Radaradarada this is my game and I want it my way radaradaradarada etc. etc. etc.
Anyway, totally need to get on with grinding like 25 more levels so I can actually do these fights..

This sounds about right. I would look at Primal fights as a single content itself. Yoshida said his plans were to make gear obsolete within a few months like standard MMO's do it, but he may not be going on this idea for 1.0. It is only a guess, but I think we may get gear that is setup like FFXI's was, gear depending on your situation. Only another guess, but I think he aims at making an ilvl system like standard MMO's do. I would like this idea, but nothing is confirmed yet, so I will see what the future holds.
It's no worse than how XI handled things, where many loot were still one of the BiS for years. You and people who think like you seem to think there isn't a middle road that can't be reached.

You don't even know me, but thanks for trying.
As someone who actually played FFXI I know exactly how XI handled gear:
The level cap was 75 maximum for a good 5+ years, which means at best they could only create side grades and alternative gear because they let merits handle the rest of your progression -- This means the best gear came from Salvage, Nyzul, Sky and Sea for most jobs. They then introduced augmented gear with the first 3 add-ons, then raised the level cap to 99 in the process finally phasing out the gear that's been on top. XI was one of the few MMOs with gear that actually lasted once you obtained it.
Most MMOs phase out gear every update which people like and hate, much like people like and hate the fact gear lasted a long time in FFXI -- This means when people want XIV to be a standard MMO they aren't talking about reaching a middleground, they're talking about gear that gets phased out every major update, which Yoshida does seem in favor of in a way.
The way "I think" is gear you work hard for should never be phased out simply for the sake of creating fresh content.
Not to mention, they already stated the moogle weapons were the same strength as Ifrit's.
..Where I'm from that's called a middleground, instead of phasing out the gear or making it inferior to the previous gear, they made it the same strength.

I think a middle road would be a Wardrobe system. Said it many times, but if you worked hard for something, but something comes in eventually later that is better, you can still have the satisfaction of wearing the gear you worked hard to obtain. You don't even know me, but thanks for trying.

The item phase out is a you like it or don't like it scenario. The one good thing FFXI did was set long term goals. I thought FFXI's system was really good till they raised the level cap. Years after RoZ and CoP came out, people were always to be found at Sky and Sea. Each area had long term goals, and large LS's had lots of stuff to get for characters with many jobs.
FFXIV could work in that way also, but it seems like the ilvl way is the way they are going. I like this also. I don't feel like I am chasing after the same thing for a very long time. It does drag itself out, it was the thought that you really wanted that piece of gear that kept you in. Every few months, you get a new goal and new things to obtain, and the cycle goes on. I favor this simply because I do enjoy fresh content in few month spurts.
On the other hand, few month spurts also means content before it is phased out. Which brings another plus back into FFXI's system. After years, content from years ago was still fresh and gave a lot to do, and not just one raid to go through. Not raising the level cap and making the dungeons difficult and drop rates low had people coming back. In a good way or bad, people "did" come back every night/week.
There is nothing wrong with liking FFXI's system more, it is a preference type of thing. I would be fine in either direction they went, but I will agree with Yoshida in favoring the gear cycle, as long as you give me strong content to obtain them in.

Does this mean no kupo punching opo-opos?I know many of you are asking if the new weapons will make Moogle noises. A little chocobo told me that they will make a "Kupo" sound when you draw your weapon!
He also informed me that these weapons will be around the same strength as Ifrit weapons since many of you were asking this question as well.
Cool x2! Thx, Rukkirii! ^^I know many of you are asking if the new weapons will make Moogle noises. A little chocobo told me that they will make a "Kupo" sound when you draw your weapon!

EDIT: Actually...nvm ; ; We need kupo sound when we hit stuff, not when we draw the weapon. /facepalm
I knew it was too good they doing something right for once... ; ;
