Got hit during my first time running it, ever since then running raid mainly for card, minion, and rolls so far I have not been hit by it. I think people just are afraid to get up close. If your under him you will be hit, you have to be literally kissing his ass to avoid with out issues. So unless your lagging or moving forward I would recommend target side step to avoid. Makes it really easy.

i literally get point blank on him while he's still prepping the blast. I know his spin shows which way he will go before he does it, but I can't always tell because im running to him after a pulverize. Trust me I get the mechanic

If your getting hit apparently not. Maybe you just need practice. Experiment. Besides he gives plenty of time since he spins his upper body before hand. If your a NIN or a Tank this should be easy for you with the proper practice.
