Gamer Escape: One of the changes coming with Stormblood is with sprint. I was curious, because of that, is any battle content being designed now where you have to use sprint?

Yoshida: No. But now for some of the DPS it’s easier to utilize sprint in order to help evade attacks. We don’t design the content where we are forcing people to execute certain actions to have an advantage. So it is not our intention that you have to use sprint during battles. But, that being said, you can move a lot faster if you use sprint, so now that you are able to use it within battles, maybe there is a situation where its the last minute and you have to get away and you are not going to make it without sprint, then it will come in handy and make your battles smoother and ease some of that stress.

Except that in ridiorina, when Construct 7 glows red and does dispose (or whatever the spinning aoe is called.) you need to use sprint. You can't circle him normally, the last attacks can and will nail you. The original attack, yes, you can circle ok with out it.

Not really just stay right behind him and side step to avoid haven't used sprint. Common sense, the closer you are to kissing his ass the less you have to travel to avoid. Sprint can be used...but why? Oh right people have no idea how math as well as distances work to cover ground for aoes.

There is actually a trick to do this without using sprint. make sure you're right inside his hitbox's outer circle and run around him while reaaaally close to him. the closer you are, the less speed you need.

Nope, you can be right on his butt and still get nailed. The only 100% safe way to do the mechanic is by sprint, because player latency may vary and the server can and will position you slightly behind your actual screen position. It's the same problem with melee and attacks firing off but not working; it goes away when you use sprint, because now you move at the correct speed on the server, even though you move faster on your own.

this is what I do, i've normally used sprint to get IN to the boss, so i don't have it available for the entire spin. still burning my tail, but...doable.

I've never used sprint and never gotten pegged by it. But if it is a latency issue (I hover around 110/120, so I'm not that low) then I imagine it's going to cause problems with pretty much all other hard-to-dodge attacks, no?

No, mostly because no mechanics are a series of 7-8 attacks I think. Usually they cap them at 3 attacks or so. You're kind of falling behind with each turn until the last couple cap you.

And I know pretty much most people recommend sprint up, and it's kind of a bit annoying to have mechanics that require you to ignore the bosses circle to do if that works.

I have to go with this person. I have run this fight a few times and outside getting behind the mob you just don’t need sprint. In fact last time I did the fight I got a little ahead of everyone and almost walked into the beams. Really if you can get into the hit box on his butt cheek latency or not you should be good.
