When the fight began, the healer was targeted with a pulsing orb aoe and forgot to get away from it. The healer's HP dropped to zero early on in the battle. We had no healer pretty much the whole fight. However, because we had great dps, followed mechanics, and dodged each aoe, we actually beat the last boss without having a healer most of the time, with both DPS and myself still alive for the entire battle.

This whole story was shockingly close to my first run there last week (where I played the role of the terrible WHM)- so much so that I had to read it twice and found myself sighing with relief at the words "today" and "also has a 60 PLD", both of which rule me out as your specific reference there. I apologize on that WHM's behalf either way though.

In my case, I don't recall exactly what I expected the orb to look like when the mechanic was being explained (and to be fair, the 'explanation' was 1 long line of text 5 seconds before pulling), but I do recall the reality being so different from what I imagined that it took too long to react to it, so... death by orb. And the team valiantly fought atop my corpse to a heroic victory, making my instantaneous early death that much more humiliating.

That was 4.5 years ago, and I've been a WHM main ever since. But I'm still embarrassed by that thread.

I find it more embarrassing that so many people responded and not one seemed to consider the possibility of confusion over Holy being a self-centered AOE and not enemy-targeted. Even the person who gave you the answer seemed to do so accidentally. Given that it's the only offensive spell WHMs have which is designed that way to that point, it's not an unreasonable mistake IMO (and probably a really common one)- it took me a few attempts to figure it out as well.

Hey tanks, when a DPS informs you they are currently tanking Shinryu (Normal) two-three times, I highly recommend you switch to your tank stance and maybe work on holding hate over DPSing. I considered using Pacification now that it's a hate drop, but considering how easy it was to rip hate from a Sword Oath PLD without even trying, I'd probably end up taking hate again.

I /disappointed at the tank in Sigmascape Normal/HQ Crafted i350 gear. I was very tempted to go a step further and tell them they're a terrible tank (because they were. They let two DPS die to the tank buster).

You should have. Otherwise he probably thinks he did ok.

Biggest duty finder pet peeve right now:

Healers, for the love of god, if you have ONE person take a major hit, give them a single target heal! Don't keep throwing out aoe heals and regens and expect it to do the job!

I understand struggling to prioritize healing if the entire party is taking big hits, but this is specifically when ONE target requires healing and if the only thing you're doing is aoe, I am judging you.

Immensely frustrating Ridorana run yesterday on BRD and then later in progress on SAM. Multiple deaths because I never got any single target heals, then when I got a raise, received zero healing and was just expected to survive somehow.

Second wind and max pots were constantly on cooldown and it is, of course, not enough. (And yes, I was appropriately grouped up with the party and yes, I was doing mechanics to the best of my ability.)

Biggest duty finder pet peeve right now:

Healers, for the love of god, if you have ONE person take a major hit, give them a single target heal! Don't keep throwing out aoe heals and regens and expect it to do the job!

For any fight that isn't brand new, I know it well. I'll know if more damage is expected soon. And if it's not, you better believe all I'm doing is sending a regen to the person who took the damage. At 4-5k per tic the person will be back to full health before regen drops. But there's no excuse for doing that on day one in Ridorana. I healed my butt off in there yesterday.

So tonight I ran Doma's Castle as DRK (first time on it with DRK but not the first as tank).

Nothing special happened, run was really smooth and party was great.

When the duty ended I got 3 comms and if my party at the time is reading this, I don't know what I did to deserve them (maybe you were all together I dunno) but I would love to thank you for them

Last night I ran a guildheist with my low level Conjurer, at the start I typed "Hey, no Protect spell yet, low level sorry".
The Tank responded "make it happen"
We all stood there for a bit then the DPS started the pulls.

I wasn't sure what to say...or what exactly I was supposed to 'make happen'.

Last night I ran a guildheist with my low level Conjurer, at the start I typed "Hey, no Protect spell yet, low level sorry".
The Tank responded "make it happen"
We all stood there for a bit then the DPS started the pulls.

I wasn't sure what to say...or what exactly I was supposed to 'make happen'.

He may have thought you didn't have it equipped as a cross class ability rather than actually not having access to it yet. I didn't realize that was now an issue until I started a CNJ on an alt.

The fun ones are when that happens, and you go to the contacts list and see they are from three different servers. Not saying they aren't all partied together before queuing, but it is definitely less likely for that to happen(also happened when I was tanking on my DRK over the weekend).

I thought they changed it so that once you have it unlocked, you can have access to them at any level sync. Or were you just at that level before you were able to get access to it?
