I disagree. I take issue with people who won’t play tanks or healers rolling on gear that they will never use just because they can now, as opposed to giving it to the people who are actually on the jobs and would use it. Even people rolling on gear for DPS jobs they don’t have unlocked irks me.

Now the flaming will just transition to the guy who rolls on tank gear but doesn’t actually have level 70 tanks (or tanks unlocked)... and don’t say people don’t do that because they most certainly do. I have seen so many people rolling on weapons in primals and Savage for jobs they don’t even have unlocked... it’s incredibly irksome to lose your Diamond WHM weapon to a person who doesn’t even have Conjurer unlocked.

I would take these types of players over ones that don't know their rotations + trying to do mechanics.

But you're going to get those anyway, that's the thing. Especially the later in the week you'll approach the content once the people who don't need the gear have gotten their upgrade item and moved on, but everyone else who actually needs the gear will continue running it for the one piece they want, so you'll actually lose all those people you're hoping will make this a smoother run.
Also "better" is relative because your chances at that one piece of gear you want are still a lot more jeopardized. Lord knows it was hard enough to get the one piece of gear you wanted to drop when you could Need on it, but now it's you and the rest of the party. That's why a token system would be far better for this sort of thing because then it really would be what they were hoping for - making the run easier by letting people run on their mains, while at the same time improving your chance of getting an item. Granted, that still wouldn't force people to run on their mains, or guarantee they're actually good at it, two dangerous assumptions some people here seem to have.

This assumes people are competent on their main jobs. Since there are no enrage timers, it's entirely irrelevant if people do low DPS while practicing. Most of the time people are dying due to mechanic failure or, bluntly stated, they're dumb. Playing on your main won't fix either.

And as others have mentioned, you won't be getting the good players. I speak only for myself, but I'll run this occasionally for fun, otherwise I'll go with a full premade of friends where we call loot, thus avoiding the greed nonsense entirely. Since I have completed Savage, I only need a few pieces for alt jobs... then I have no reason to touch it save once a week—assuming I don't do hunts instead.

I think we all just need to chill and wait to see how it works out. I think it will be better overall. But after the first week if you guys are having a hard time, come back and complain more I guess. Afterall SE is likely just testing this, if it doesn't workout they will change it back with enough complaints.

I've seen it. They say its because they will eventually get that job to the cap and they just didn't want to have to run the raid again. This will probably happen more often now. Its going too hard to get the thing you really want, so just greed everything? Also it doesn't have to be just people who "greed on anything even if its not at 70"t. People that just "greed on anything I have at 70" will make it bad enough.

It happens. Believe me it happens; weekly lockout or no. Like Loki said, people eventually just roll on something if their wanted drop doesn’t drop within a few runs, regardless if they’re going to actively use it, or even have the jobs unlocked. As I said before, I’ve met tons of people in Savage who roll on drops for jobs they don’t even have unlocked, and people that actively have them as secondaries cannot get the loot.

If they’re going to do Greed Only, put restrictions on the Greed Only: require them to have the job at least in the respective expansion (so level 61 or higher for level 70 24-mans) to even have the ability to roll on it. A guy with a level 5 LNC should not be rolling on level 70 DRG gear. A guy who doesn’t even have ROG unlocked should not be rolling on NIN gear.

It doesn't mean that future 24 mans won't have enrages. As well as that, technically any dps check is also an enrage. Hashmal is notorious for wiping low dps groups.
