They don't spawn any nm, so it's a waste of time to kill them.
People don't want to kill them, because for stronger mobs it would need a elemental change, so they linger around longer than usual, doing more casualties and damage than usual.

And yes, some people actually love to troll this way... sad, sad kids.
Some sad people just get huge shots of dopamins when they manage to ruin 100+ people's fun.
    That's the Internet for you.

So in the end, mr AFK's complaints weren't that unjustified

I'd even like to add that, since you knew that those mobs have random aggro, and will eventually end up aoeing the whole train, why in the first place did you tank them ?
The best thing to do when people rejoigning the train are bringing mobs they aggroed, is to let those people get killed so that the monster runs back to his spot. Don't worry : I can assure you there will be somebody for rezzing him. If you heal the player or attack/tank the mob in order to "help" that player, it will only make the mob stay longer and longer in the area, and if that mob cleaves or aoe, it will only make things worse, and bring ire upon you...

Think about it : the train is fighting Pazuzu, and suddenly someone runs him, followed by 5-6 dinosaurs... Are people going to tank those dinosaurs ?
He then proceeds to run around with those dinosaurs cleaving and killing people at random : do you think people will appreciate ?

I usually start out in Defiance before a boss pull and establish hate with 2 overpowers before putting up Storm's Eye and hitting Equilibrium to gain a little extra aggro before switching to Deliverance to Fell Cleave spam. If I see someone creeping up on threat I either Overpower once to get a gain or weave in an aggro combo, depending on what is needed. Usually my friend pops Diversion pretty regularly so it's not been an issue. If he or any other person for that manner yanks something off of me I get it back no problem and have a quick laugh about it then move on.

(Granted I don't know if my rotation is the absolute best but it has worked for me so far, so no harm there.)

That sounds like my roulette run through Shisui of the Violet Tides last night. I think I was the only one using AoE, ran out of TP several times, never pulled more than two groups of enemies so we never faced more than six to eight enemies at a time. We still wiped twice and I got yelled at in chat for pulling so much.

and thanks. Just gotta stay determined! Ultimate may be long, but it's absolutely amazing when you finally triumph with your heat beating 100 times a second from the last phase.
    Hi

Meant to comment on this earlier. Always nice to stumble into people from the forums~

And believe you me, it's both a wondrous feeling and exhausting. In a good way, mind you. Sadly, haven't been able to get back in as consistently, but with the UwU coming, I intend to keep at it even if I may be starting later into this patch.

then it is fully wrong to be trying to get tanks and healers to ever go into the DPS stances / rotations. The gain for it is just meaningless.
It can only be wrong if it were not efficient. Tanks and Healers prioritize damage because there is literally nothing else to prioritize once their role is fulfilled. Mitigation and healing have a threshold whereas damage is always valued. Unfortunately, FFXIV allows that threshold to be achieved far more easily than other trinity based games. The only tank specific mechanic this game offers is enmity, which has been made laughable with the addition of Shirk and Diversion. If I can tank equally efficiently or better without Defiance/Shield Oath/Grit, what purpose they serve once aggro has been established? Warrior is, perhaps, the biggest offender of this as Defiance offers no mitigation improvement, thus I take the same damage regardless of stance. Healers, meanwhile, can take a tank from 1HP to 70,000 in mere seconds. A good healer will average noticeably more DPS casts than heals, which begs the question... what wouldn't they prioritize damage only slightly behind healing? There's a reason people shun non-DPSing healers. You will literally spend upwards of 80% of a dungeon doing precisely nothing.

The community cannot be at fault when the game's design philosophy encourages damage over everything else. A tank utilizing tank stance throughout the encounter is objectively inferior to the tank in DPS stance. Likewise, the healer who scarcely deals damage is inferior to the one maintaining equal parts healing and DPS.

Regardless, you are, indeed, quite wrong in your estimation. Even at the top tier level, tanks and healers combined account for less than 40% of total raid DPS. Citing 80% is such a gross reach, it borders on comical misrepresentation.

Well about twenty minutes ago I attempted Bardam's Mettle for the first time. Key word "attempted", my internet connection started lagging pretty bad and then died completely when we reached the first boss. I just got it back a minute or two ago. If anybody in that group is reading this I am sorry for any trouble I caused because of that.

What I find absolutely hilarious is how so many people are getting all up in arms over a joking post made by Moro in a vent thread as if she's personally offended them. It was a funny read. Quit being so sensitive about every little thing posted.

Jesus. It's like you can't even vent without a dozen people being offended at the same time. I dunno if it's because people are just getting more sensitive about every little thing (getting advice, being told dps is low, etc.), or the forums are most attracting snowflakes, but folks need to learn to either lighten up or stop being so damn sensitive to every little thing happening.

It's not a matter of offense...its the fact people took it seriously in a rant thread/praise thread only to find out it was completely fake. We're not here to troll...we're here to rant...or praise with actual events....minus name and shame.
Works of "fiction" with duties are an entirely different matter..and should be in a different thread.
    It ruins the whole idea.

Nothing to do with snowflakes...or offense....its just...wrong. Period.

    Eureka story!

I love Eureka. I was capping four characters in there a few weeks back and I just generally like it.

My Boyfriend is on the opposite spectrum. Tried it for like half an hour and then just gave up. He's wanting to catch up now, and while I have no characters low ATM, I thought I would help him out with my main. He tried the train and hated it. I don't blame him. I don't enjoy the train either.

I went around spawning low level NMS cause no one does this anymore and lowbies get better exp, not to mention crystals and such from the lower NMs.

Started with Teles, and let the rest of the map know I'd popped her for lowbies. We moved on to Lord of the Anemos, and from then we garnered a small following.

By the end I had a full group of lowbies, and we'd spawned Teles, Lord, Callisto, Numbers, Emperor and Sabotender.

It was really fulfilling because he enjoyed himself and a few of the other lowbies were really happy to have gotten to do stuff that gave them a viable reward.

I did get some prick complain that we should stop splitting and just follow the train, but no, that was only good for higher level people, I mean, sure I could have done the higher level NMs and capped my mendacity, but I had more fun doing stuff that helped others too.

All this delicious drama, from the saving face and "it was just a joke guiz come on" in this topic and the forums in general, make me all like

The original post in question definitely has language that suggests Moro was being an idiot with the fan fiction story. Was it told in a humorous way? Perhaps to the poster. It was not funny at all but you could see an attempt was there. Did it ruffle feathers? Certainly. Bless the forums for making day jobs go faster. Is it stupid to suggest the general populace not using aggro reducing cds in order to be a petty Take Thats™ to tanks not using countdowns in casual content? Of course. No one would take that at face value.

I agree with Kallistra in that it was a weird post but really. What isn't weird here?
