I don't believe that the GEO ever displayed any healing abilities; his spells were all about protection and defense. And in the final battle, he very literally was the tank for the fight.

If we're going to draw upon the AST quest lore to decide what GEO is going to be, signs point way more firmly to tank.
Unless I just dreamed this, there was a very important point in which they realized that Hydaelyn(the planet) is also a heavenly body, making the two jobs very much parallels to one another. Hence Earthly Star into Stellar Detonation.

One's personal style is also not indicative to the art as a whole. Jobs and skills are more nuanced and flexible in lore than they are as presented to the player; Y'shtola using CU despite being mostly CNJ, Pipin fighting with a DRK swordstyle sans edge effects, every boss using -aga/3 spells despite not being WHM/BLM, etc.

And one could argue that their 60-70 quests alludes to it more, since, usually Time Mages use the Quake spell for standard damage; Quake is earth and Geomancers are about the earth. Originally, they were going to be Chemists, but that changed because of balancing issues. How a Chemist turned into AST is unknown, nor why they didn't just call it a Time Mage from the start. But yeah just like us never getting a Ranger, the odds of us getting a Time Mage are slime, since it would just be copy and paste.
It's similar to time mage, but it has its own nuances and differences that mark it as a separate job; especially when it comes to lore. As wide and varied as the history of FF jobs is, it will probably be just AST taken to a more extreme transformation. Unless they want to invent a weapon or element, which is possible.

Quake is also only used for time mages in Bravely Default from what I can remember. Most of the time it's a BLM spell.
