Guesses as to what the new mystery MSQ trial coming in 4.3 will be? (Spoilers)

Asahi is on Zenos side, but I don't know If I can really say that Zenos is on Garlemand side at all, Zenos feels like a plague to me honestly, he searches for vengeful ppl and mold them in a way that they can spark flames of vengeance so that a worthy prey can emerge.
That is what really stuck on me about Zenos, all the ppl around him have been wronged one way or another by their compatriots, though I will say that asahi is kinda an exception since so far we know that he follows him for his power display, though maybe since he was beign beaten beforehand the rule still applies.

One thing I would like to add, I do get the feeling that they are grooming Zenos to be our Kefka, since he's essentially the second in command of the empire, a monster and a blonde not to mention the emperor's helm kinda remind me of Gesthal, but maybe I'm just overthinking it, still it would be quite disappointing for me if they'll go this route truly

There's likely more to Asahi than meets the eye... I'll admit, there's a chance that Asahi is another Zenos who just wants to watch the world burn but...Zenos is the exception rather than the rule where antagonists are concerned.

It's possible there's more driving Asahi than what we've been told, not likely. Nothing has suggested that he's anything more than a smarmy, double-faced snake who went native in Garlemald and is now trying to bring down the recovering Doma as revenge for the Warrior of Light "killing" his crush. Anything not rooted in what is known, about Asahi, is wishful thinking at best. (Even if you want to argue that there is some implicit rule antagonists must be more nuanced than they first appear, Zenos largely invalidates that - and if he can be a monster in human skin, so can other antagonists.)

It's funny you should bring up Avengers: Infinity War, because I felt like Thanos' plans and actions are about as inconsistent and illogical as Garlemald's. (Massive spoilers, of course.)

Thanos' plan is to get all six Infinity Stones, which will grant him nigh-omnipotence, and then use it to cull the universe's population down to half of what it is (leaving individual lives to a coin flip) to preserve resources. The thing is that by the time he can do that it's not necessary; he's got power over time, space, and reality, so planting caches of auto-renewing resources on planets with sapient life should be pretty easy. Furthermore it... doesn't really solve the actual issue. Resources are still limited, and between the resources that will be needed to rebuild after the devastation caused by half the people of the universe randomly disappearing into dust and the fact that population will eventually return to where it was with... resources still limited, doing what Thanos did is arguably counterproductive. (Sound familiar?)

But hey, a guy using wonky logic to support mass murder across the universe is more compelling than a guy who just wants to impress a corporeal manifestation of Death, and they had to work his iconic finger snap into it somehow... just like an Empire using wonky logic to support genocide is more compelling than an Empire that just wants to be supreme and revels in immorality.

Zenos is (was?) on Garlemald's side as far as it gets him what he wants - good fights, namely. He outright says that he doesn't care about Garlemald's mission and considers its stance on eikons little more than self-interested cowardice before the final showdown with him (as Shinryu).

@Cilia: I agree with all your points completely. I did bring up Thanos because people like to say that his reasons are understandable but his actions are still pure evil. I wanted to point out that having some reasons does not suddenly make someone good or have redeeming qualities. Which is something that can be said about a lot of our enemies thus I dont really see how most of them had redeeming qualities. (I mean if we look at it like that anyone can be redeemed even Zenos. I mean if his father was indifferent to him and he had some kind of depression it would explain his actions. But it would not make them redeemable. [IMO])

Thoughts on the trailer:

After seeing it, I'm still confused about what the trial could be, because the small arena + lack of other players present during that bit with Asahi and Zenos makes me think that it's a MSQ duty (Though it's also possible it could be a mechanic similar to Phantom train that separates the party and forces them to fight their own battles).

That strange haze veiling everything plus the Doman civilians attacking the WoL (I'd assume they're probably the prisoners) makes me feel like there's something very abnormal going on there.

There's also the matter of that ominous voice saying "You shall pay for what you've done in blood"...

EDIT: After someone pointed out that those two Domans are Yotsuyu's parents, I get the impression we're going to be getting thrown into some trippy battle in Yotsuyu's mind courtesy of our Echo powers. I assume that clash between Zenos and Gosetsu is meant to be a representation of her original personality and Tsuyu fighting for dominance. It wouldn't surprise me if this ends up happening after she gets transformed into a primal somehow (I'm leaning towards the mirror being the catalyst and the mental turmoil of her memories resurfacing being the trigger) and during the resulting battle in an attempt to bring a peaceful resolution to the matter.

Thoughts on the trailer:

As a reminder, they did say they will not be showing the Trial in the Trailer. So everything we have seen is either a dungeon boss, raid boss, MSQ fight, side-content boss and Eureka NM.

Hearing Yotsuyu laugh that crazy in the trailer and I assume the other crazy laugther was Asahi it really starts to feel like those two might be our trial. Maybe we try to stop it with the shown ghostly fights but dont manage to stop it and then they turn. (I hope its not like: We defeat the bad things from her past and thus she is suddenly fine and on top of that redeemed x))

Also fearing a bit for Alphy.

(Also anytime Asahis face was shown I really really wanted to punsh his face..its seems that the WoL wanted to do that too)
