you can get vote kicked out of Duty Finder and i would say most statics are not all friends with each other. You have basically three ways of doing content.Basically, the only situation where you would be ostracized for "incorrect" build would be the last one, and even then, only for the really challenging content, and only with really nitpicky people, as long as your build is not significantly lower that the "correct" one.
- PUG via Duty Finder
- Static parties with friends
- Premade with strangers via the Party Finder
Unless you obviously act like a jerk, no one will really vote kick you in the middle of a duty that will be cleared faster with you than by waiting for a replacement, especially considering you have to wait at least 15 minutes to initiate it.
If it's not with friends (or at least acquaintances), then it probably started as a "premade with strangers", so, the same result applies.
Again, the concept of "meta" strives for absolute perfection, to the point than 1% below can be considered worthless. The vast majority of the playerbase won't care at all if you're subpar, as long as you're "viable".
Vote kick is 5 minutes, it's vote abandon that's 15.
Gave a like, agree.
As Reynhart said, of all the vote kicks I have seen none of them have been for anything other then being AFK or in PoTD being a jerk and doing thinks like literally walking around when everyone is trying to get through the dungeon. Even the latter...only twice.
As for statics not being friends, while that may be true the whole point of running with a static is the consistency of knowing what your teammates are and are not going to do. So even in a new static, chances are people will tolorate your decisions to a reasonable degree. If not, well you can always find another static, and I am willing to bet they run the same range as any other mmo: going from super casual to groups going for server/game firsts. Which with the usual bell curve puts most in the middle somewhere. So while a 'super elite raiding group' may not tolorate an 'incorrect build' I am fairly positive most will, at least if you can still clear content; which at the core is the main thing people will care about.
Even if you don't like someone in a static...chances are you do like others. I have had plenty of guilds where I didn't like other people, even the guild masters, yet stuck around because of the people I did like. I just learned to put up with the aspects I didn't for as long as the good outweighed the bad. So again, having any sort of cross-job customization, let alone a trait system, won't destroy friendships and comradely for people. The people who WOULD truly care probably are going to unlock everything anyways since every patch can shift the meta anyways, like it already does without any cross-job system as it is.
It could be a fun experiment to do : Pick any job, and go into Duty Finder while purposely handicaping yourself (Like not using Embolden as a RDM, or Heavy Trust as a DRG), and see how many times people actually call you out on this.![]()
