+1, would love to see this as other MMOs have this system already implemented, and SE would still make a pretty penny off of Fantasias, Dyes, Housing Items, etc.

Agreed. Mogstation items should automatically be Armoire storable. I believe the next patch is going to make Glamour Dresser items removable, so you can always shift things around to try and free up some storage, but giving them an Armoire flag to allow them to be placed in there would be ideal (even though the loss of rarer dyes would still prompt me to keep them in a retainer, at least for Pure White/Jet Black).

I DEFINITELY agree with this notion, and I thank you for bringing this thread to life! If the items are gonna be $18+, then at LEAST make them account-wide. I KNOW they have the power to do this, and I would love to see this change made, especially as someone who actively plays multiple alts.

I also agree with the notion that was brought up in the thread a few times that any clothing items need to be able to go in that armoire...

They should implement a new system for account bound items. Instead of sending them through in-game mail, add an NPC that offers up any account bound item that an account is flagged for.

So if you buy a soundtrack that comes with an exclusive orchestrion roll? You put the code into your account page and your account is immediately flagged as having access to that item - across all characters in both the present and the future.

It seems reasonable to me and a solid compromise. Other MMO's have systems in place that flag an account as a whole as qualifying for promotional items, not just individual characters. FFXIV needs to stop lagging behind.

Oh gawd, this would be great! It's such a hassle going through all your mog-mails when you create a new character (the mail system is another thing that needs an overall!). I also don't necessarily want all those items on my character, so it would be nice to just be able to select the pieces you want from an NPC instead.

Totally backing this. I'd go as far as to say the flag already exists since they need to know what to send your newly created alt when you create them, but now instead of flooding the poor mail moogle it would utilize a system much like the Calamity Salvager.
There's a hidden bonus to this as well - you can repurchase items from the Calamity Salvager. Even if it would be 1000 gil per purchase (hell including the initial buy, we need more gil sinks) it would help solve a lot of the inventory issues caused by these items. Given how many of them aren't even dyable, there's no reason to keep them around if you don't regularly glamour them over other gear.

Concerning Calamity Salvagers being unable to sell Mog Station items due to these items not having Achievements attached to them: add 0 point Achievements to them. Heck, that could make it easier for account-wide functions, too. Along with a Moogle Mail being delivered to the player containing the purchased items, upon logging in an Achievement could be unlocked and you could take a visit to the Calamity Salvagers to receive the bought items.

I'm brainstorming here, but ultimately they do have a way in the game to allow players to easily repurchase Achievement items. Why not utilize this system for Mog Station Optional Items too?

They can very well use this system. Seasonal achievements are not displayed for everyone to not taunt the people who didn't complete the event. Achievements tied to the Mog Shop could utilize a similar mechanism and only be displayed to the people who unlocked them via purchase.

A 0-point achievement doesn't actually fix the problem. The stuff that is attached to an attachment is -why- they can make an item re-purchasable from the Salvager/Recompense NPC. The achievement is essentially a flag that says you did the event. Who knows if the cash shop does the same thing or simply creates the item via mog mail and doesn't actually allow it to be repurchased. Someone who has bought things from an event they missed could tell us.

The correct fix would require some minor retooling of how those NPC's work, but it would not be out of the question. Something like:
    1. Create a new hash in the SE account, move every "purchased" item for FFXIV to a new Mogshop KV(key-value) database table, indexed by that hash.
    2. When you log into the lobby, the the lobby server triggers a "check for new KV's" out-of-band process, and then when you log into the world server, Mog mail pops up a "You have X uncollected items waiting at the (NPC NAME)'s shop!" and then
    3. The NPC has limited stock of every item purchased. You can buy each item exactly once, are bound upon purchase, and then it's "sold out" on the character until you next login.

At this point, for consumables, they simply won't be re-stocked. For account-level items, that out-of-band process will re-fill the inventory for items that you've purchased from the mogshop at any point. They may be duplicated with scavenger items (which will only list achievement-linked items.) But you can only have one of the items in the inventory. The NPC will have categories that match the Mogshop categories, and items marked with (Consumable) will not be replenished once all acquired items are bought.

In the out-of-band process upon next login will see that consumables have been bought and not refill those unless purchased again. If the player creates a new character, it plays back the KV store from the account level, but with the new character. This results in all new players being able to have every account-level item available. This also makes it easier for the "MogShop" to prevent the player from buying non-consumables they already have, as the KV database will show which account has the item, and the "SE" account only has to track one pointer instead of what is likely additional fields in the database when they run out of space.

The reason "Server Limitations" is even an issue at all is because clearly the out-of-band process already in use is too slow. So if there are too many items being purchased, than it will take far longer to receive the purchase. So I don't think there are any "limitations" at all, rather just an unwillingness by SE engineers to increase the table size or add another column to a database because it would require long maintenance periods to do.
