How the heck do Atmas work?

Pretty much the extras can be used for other relics depending if your into relics or not. If not just trash them. To get them to drop you have to use the Zenith weapon though. Afterwards you will able to use them to farm Alexandrites, however maps are better for that. Everything has been nerfed sooo much so unless your getting glamour for zodiac, you can really just go to next stage anima from HW areas and skip these. Or if high enough Eureka.

I would say almost everything. Not sure if the books were nerfed at all...but those are still tedious especially for the FATEs needed(thankfully if you're way over geared, even getting synced down to the level, you can kill some of them SUPER fast - like the crocodile thing in Coerthas, got out of a dungeon and had 1:34 left on its timer, killed it as BLM with 0:30 roughly left).

If your high enough level you can solo them with most jobs, or use squadrons for anima ones. Either that or ask for FC assistance as unsync. Would be over in 10 min or so maybe less.

The dungeons aren't really the problem with the books, it's the FATEs which could take over an hour to spawn(not sure if one spawned while I was AFK eating dinner...but when I came back it wasn't up for another 15min or so...and it was the last thing for that book)

You are aware they do spawn more often now -.-; you can just craft while waiting. Not SE fault for being away. Time management helps -.-; Be glad your not doing fates or S class NM's in Hunts LS usually go down in 30 secs or less in older content. Except Odin he does take a while.
