As far as I know, in the Japanese client, The PLD is known as "Knight". If it was a Paladin, I would have loved the job to be more like Cecil, with more healing capabilities (Esuna, Cure, Raise, Protect) on top of their tankiness.

In fairness PLD did use to have raise, protect, stoneskin and clemency. RIP cross-role actions.
I don't have much to offer in way of discussion, though. Creativity is not my strong suit, and since I've played pretty much all the FF games it doesn't bother me that each iteration of similar jobs is a bit different than the last.
Yeah, they did. Though the cure was awful because it was still MND-based, Protect was not as effective as the WHM's one (same with Stoneskin) and you couldn't raise people in combat.In fairness PLD did use to have raise, protect, stoneskin and clemency. RIP cross-role actions.
