Re: Lala petting.
Did someone forget to lock the doors of the Balmung Waking Sands behind them when they left? A few residents appear to have escaped.

I've noticed in a lot of my Sigma Normal raid runs that tanks are having an incredibly hard time and problem with holding hate. There's only so many times that I can pop Diversion or Lucid on BLM.
I had a Sigma Normal Guardian run wiped at 1%.....because people freaked out when the missiles came out and killed everyone in the process. It was like a mass genocide and it left me speechless. No one was new. I just...sort of leaned back in my chair and was just "Wow...".

So I'm working on leveling my WHM as my first real healer (SCH doesn't count since I've never actually used it lol), and I just got up to a high enough level to do the Vault. Having run it as a DPS, but not as a healer, obviously I was worried. I ran it twice tonight. First time went alright, though there were a couple deaths. Thankfully no wipes, though. Second time I let everyone know again that I'm still new to healing. They ask if I'd healed the Vault before, to which I said only once. We get through the first set of trash, and tank asks if it's okay to try a big pull. I agreed, and we went ahead with it. After successfully beating all the mobs, the tank says "you ain't new lol". I didn't reply, but I took that as a compliment. We get through all the bosses, and I think one DPS died in the last boss right before I could get a heal off to them, but we had no wipes. I still need to work on managing MP a bit, but it's nice to know I'm apparently doing alright as a newbie healer. I also ran the Aery before that, and had a group that spent much of it talking about Japanese cuisine. At the end boss, one of the two BLMs was prepping the LB to finish him off, and was just about to die in the process until I got a clench heal off and kept him alive. Boss dies, and the BLM popped into chat saying "YOU SAVED MY LIFE! I OWE YOU MY LIFE!". All-in-all it was an amusing night!

Next time don't pick the stuff up. When you get to a block as a result... just say something like "hey I figured since you ran ahead you'd picked it up, I mean sure I saw it on the floor there, but you ran ahead, so you must have had it, right?"
Also... Peloton? I can't think of any justification to ever even have that skill on your action bar. Unless you're using a macro to swap it in, cast it, and then swap it out...
- There are just so many other way more useful abilities.
As for DPS with a 'go go go' mentality... I get it now that I've been playing Ninja and Bard. But moreso Ninja... I usually have between 15 - 60 seconds... most often around 45... before Huton wears off at the end of the last pull (varies depending on how recently I refreshed it - I always try to make refreshing it my last move of a fight, but that's easier said than done). Nothing is more annoying than seeing someone stop to just type random stuff onto my screen while that is wearing off...
Now if we've been sync'd to below the level of huton... I'm fine with all of those tanks that like to stop and do ready checks, marks, and ask the healer if he wants to make a run to Mc Donalds before the next trash pull... but when you do that at a higher level... I've mained tanking in MMOs since 2007 and so I know how annoying it is... but I am getting -this close- now to pulling for tanks....

Just ran Brayflox with one of those ASTs. You know the one that doesn't use a sect, doesn't use protect, doesn't equip Esuna for one of the few boss fights that really benefits from it, and doesn't dps at all. We asked a couple times for them to use Diurnal Sect with zero response at all, and didn't bother asking for any of the others. They weren't a sprout and looking at their lodestone they have several jobs to 70 already, so they don't even have the excuse of being new. The only thing that saved the run was that the other 3 of us clearly knew what we were doing, and could carry them. Even so, we wiped once on the final boss due to being overwhelmed by the poison from not having any regen or Esuan, though, and came very near to wiping a second time but managed to pull through at the last moment due to some miracle. They even left immediately via the duty finder menu rather than running over to the exit to do it, so they clearly know some of the tricks and shortcuts to the game. I don't think they were a bot, because they did heal well enough using their available base healing spells and didn't set anyone to auto-follow.
The weird thing was that they were from Gilgamesh, which has a reputation on our data center for being arrogant but rarely terri-bad. This was so far off that mark I don't even know what to say.

Levelling up DRK, ran levelling roulette, and got dropped into an in-progress Brayflox with an astro like Mhaeric above. I should've been tipped off when there was roughly 40 minutes on the clock and they hadn't reached the third boss yet. Party was an experienced BLM probably levelling an alt, sprout monk, and sprout astro. To the healer's credit, they did at least have a stance and used protect when prompted, and would actually respond in chat, and I'm pretty new to tanking, so I might have made their job a little tougher. But they mostly just spammed benefic on me, even after the mobs had died. At one point while my HP was dipping into the danger zone I saw something like 4 aspected benes flash across my screen. It's entirely possible that I was so focused on staying alive and keeping enmity up that I missed what they were doing, but every time I glanced, they were charging benefic. There was definitely one helios, possibly more, but if there were, I wasn't in range. They also used swiftcast on protect, and hardcasted raises. The monk kept accidentally (an assumption based on them apologizing in chat) pulling more mobs on our way to the third boss, and we wiped twice before we even managed to get there. AST's MP pool dropping like hot potatoes, and the BLM is trying to mana shift them. We managed to squeak past the boss, albeit painfully slowly, but it's at this point that I've decided I should probably talk to the AST, so I tell them not to spam heals before the next pull. I pull, they spam heals. So I tell them, more specifically, if I'm above 70 or 80 percent HP then it's safe to DPS, erring on the side of caution, and the BLM backs me up on this. I also tell them that having esuna would be useful in this dungeon. They say they've been using it. I certainly didn't see it when I had 4 stacks of poison on me, but again, possible that I just missed them using it, and I apologize. We move on, I see AST charging up malefic, start thinking maybe we can pull through without another wipe.
We get to Aiatar, AST's back to spamming bene. I do my best to avoid getting hit while keeping him out of the poison pools, so the AST doesn't have to heal constantly. I was a fool. I notice a lack of DoTs on the boss aside from thunder. I haven't played monk, so I'm not sure if they've got anything, but I know for sure that astros have combust at this level. So when we wipe, despite a valiant LB effort from the DPS to bring it down after I died near the end, I ask if the AST has combust up. They confirm that they have it, they've been using it, and that they should have all the tools at their disposal on now. Okay then, second attempt at the boss. I see combust up at the start of battle, and never again. AST goes back to guzzling their mp, and I get worried we'll wipe again when I see they've stopped doing anything, and I drop out of grit when blood weapon is up to add that tiny sliver of DPS in the hopes we can get the boss down before he gets us.
What really got to me was when we clear, the AST goes "christ, finally" and leaves before everyone else.
I stopped tanking after that.
Kudos to the BLM though. Y'all tried hard.
