Only 2/5 Endgame content currently viable, why?

you know it shouldn't be the destination, it should be the journey. all i mean is if you do endgame for the drop (destination) and not because you like the content (journey). then you should question why you play. ppl in RL go out to get work to get money, a lot of the time they do a job they don't like. does endgame really have to be like a job? you doing something you don't like because you want the reward

I agree, I've done Darkhold post 1.19 knowing full well that the gear is useless, just for the experience. Same with ifrit, I just like fighting him, it's fun.
My problem however, is this gets boring after a while, and after that initial glean wears off, it's about reaching for a goal. Getting some sweet armor, or a sweet earring or ring to show off. All of the content is IN the game, there's just no point in doing it past the initial first time. This is an online game, not an offline RPG. I want a lot of content to be able to do, I want to be able to fight something, be challenged by more than one thing, two if you count in strongholds, for a reward that's suitable.

And no, I never played XI on the sylph server.

XI is a western MMORPG developed by a Japanese company.

Not unless FFIII was an american title, which I'm pretty sure it wasn't. XI was inspired by EQ but it in no way played like any of the western MMOs at the time, which were heavy DnD influenced.

I play the game to "hangout" one would say. I do events with my ls. craft. blow things up with materia. run around the landscape (even though it's copy/paste). escort the chocobos through the danger that is the black shroud, and whatever else I find to amuse myself. also talking in vent while I run laps around town. lulz
