I think the sword and axe look very good.

Pretty much. There's a pretty big difference between saying "I don't like these" or even "wow, these look pretty lame to me!" and "omg, these look like crap. SE is turning this game into WoW. I swear if they don't change them I'm going to quit!" and generally acting like everything that is implemented into the game has to fit perfectly into the little box that is your idea of what this game is/was/should be.There's a difference between sharing an opinion and constant bitching.
When it comes to the forums, people tend to bitch a hell of a lot more than you would think. I respect opinions, but when you have people thinking it's the end of the world because of 7 weapon drops, it just gets annoying. Especially the people that keep saying they are doing a bad job and "what were they thinking".
Also it is annoying when people just generally do not have the capacity to laugh at something. The reactions to these weapons are a perfect example of how completely devoid of a sense of humor that some people in the community seem to be. The weapons are clearly designed to be silly and fun. If you don't like the way they look then that's one thing, but to completely dismiss the obvious attempt by the dev team at implementing some light-hearted content just because it doesn't necessarily fit the general "gritty" aesthetic that the game has is just being picky, and bratty.
Nearly every FF (including this one) has some silly content, and even tends to break the fourth wall once in a while. Some people just need to learn to enjoy and laugh at the little things once in a while.

i bet the new weapons will make this sound when you hit with them

These weapons are good. They're silly and fun. The Ifrit weapons looked like poop though and I did not like most of those, aside from the sword.
My problem with the weapons looks, and I'm going to hazard a guess that at least one or two others feel the same way, is that these come from ( what should be ) the hardest content in the game. They are ( probably ) going to have better stats than the Ifrit weapons. They should reflect that, just as Ifrit's weapons have the look at that says 'this thing will kick your ass'. These Moogle weapons look like they belong at a Christmas event to go with Dream gear, not as the best of our current endgame situation.
This is a great post, and you make several good points. However, I disagree with your fundamental premise. This fight seems to be extremely tongue and cheek. I worried about the Ifrit weapons for many of the reasons you mentioned here. They may have "looked cool", but they were stylistically inconsistent with the rest of the game. Even ignoring the level of frivolity this fight seems to have, I would go as far as saying that as silly as these weapons are, they are stylistically much closer to the game's roots than the Ifrit weapons.I'm with Viion on this about the 'whining'. I'm not whining, I'm grumbling, BIG difference. (I'm female, trust me, I know what a WHINE sounds like)
I just have the annoying trait of coming from an art background, with some design thrown in. This game has a "feel" to it. Yes, it's a fantasy game, yes there's magic, yes there should be a few splatterings of crazy weapons - but after what story I went through with Gridania, the LAST thing I want to see is some moogles duct-taped to my weapons. Carved in like on the ax (and I guess shield/sword, need to watch it again, didn't catch the gladiator stuff) makes much more sense.
Why is that one carved, and... all the others duct-taped on with stuff you get at a carnival? Visually they don't go together. They look like goofy holiday drops from running around chasing renegade moogles to me. Something cute to get and toss into your inventory, not hunt down a giant buffalo with.
The scale, color schemes, and weapon construction are all in keeping with older designs. Similarly they all follow the world's rules. They have flare, silly flare, but a little levity is not necessarily a bad thing.
The comment about the internal inconsistency is definitely valid. I would have preferred if they had all be silly, or all been serious, but it isn't a large enough faux pas for me to get too irritated about.
the post was linked below, but here is your change you were talking about that completely changes the system
"In 2.0 for item distribution we are implementing a NEED/GREED/PASS system but with current system that is not possible; sorry for the trouble."
that is version 2.0 not 1.20 which is a year from now. they will be adding /random, but that will just randomly put an item in any person in the parties inventory so that doesn't solve the issue one bit. that only time it'd help is when someone gets all drops they will /random everytime so they don't keep getting items.
the person you originally quoted was correct when they said it was just a bandaid fix on a big issue.
if they really wanted to fix the issue they would just have the primal fights just like every other fight the game has had so far. put it into a loot list so you can give an item you don't need to someone in the party that does.

they look lame, and why more weapons when most people didnt finish ifrit yet?
Marauder's and Lancer's ones are the only 2 weaps I'd save. I'll tell you why:
It's cool to have some decoration moogle-themed since they are what we are dealing with in this fight but on those 2 weapons the "cool" aspect lays in the overall design.
On the other weapons the "cool" side it's all and only about the moogle decoration leaving the rest of the weapon design superficial and trivial.
I watched the video several times and I can hardly remember details about the other weapons![]()
