... no. Just, no. The only reason you put a payment system in is if you want people to pay you.
If they wanted players to use it less, they'd just put limits on it. They want money, full stop.

Well then let's take a look at their budget projections for what they expect to bring in via the system. That should tell us everything. I'd expect that if they actually expected to make anything from it then they would add it to a more compelling feature than something that anyone with any reasonable value of cash would respond to with "yeah, I'm not paying cash for that."
As I originally said: I will wait and see and for the time being give them the benefit of the doubt regarding market transactions. From a design perspective you have two interests going on: 1) giving players choices to do what they want, 2) encourage those choices to be responsible in those choices to not let markets get out of hand. Microtransactions in this limited case allows for both.
Now excuse me, but I need to return to being salty about the subscription features.

Im going to use the app... but I wont pay for it... the bonus for premium isn't worth it vs the free... hell I'm more interested in the chat functions than the MB everyone is freaking out about... if it's worth going broke irl for a chance to be rich in a game more power to ya...
Some people could spends hundreds and it wouldn't put a dent in their wallets.Im going to use the app... but I wont pay for it... the bonus for premium isn't worth it vs the free... hell I'm more interested in the chat functions than the MB everyone is freaking out about... if it's worth going broke irl for a chance to be rich in a game more power to ya...
Systems like this are about the opposite of responsibility. They're about capturing whales and getting them to pay a lot. That's how the entire F2P market is designed. They know most pepole will never pay a dime so they go after the ones that will for as much cash as possible. As I originally said: I will wait and see and for the time being give them the benefit of the doubt regarding market transactions. And don't worry, I'm pretty confident more "premium" features are on the way to the app. It's just a question of when.

So let's hurry up and get that WoW token system installed into FFXIV so I can spend my ingame gil on someone else paying my subscription for me. Because hey - I have nothing to do with my gil and they have more money than they know what to do with.
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: [...]these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
Edited my post on page 3 as I apparently read more into the kupo nuts than was officially stated on the slides, not sure if they mentioned otherwise in Japanese. According to the slide the kupo nuts are only for purchasing items whereas the moogle coins you have to buy allow you to list/adjust as well? Didn't get anywhere near enough sleep last night so please correct me if I read that wrong.
(ty alimdia for posting the slide images!)

That is correct. They only allow purchasing, listing/adjusting.Edited my post on page 3 as I apparently read more into the kupo nuts than was officially stated on the slides, not sure if they mentioned otherwise in Japanese.
