Welp. Looks like dedicated players' stranglehold on the market board is only going to increase with this. Guess I'd better sell off my stuff while I still can. Not sure it's even worth going into crafting anymore at this point.

+1 damn, good job, I was dying laughing.
Reason why I did not go there is because as far as practical, you be hard pressed to absolute cap on base sub, basically you need gil cap on hand 8 chrs, + 2 retainers each, then you can throw in private fc for each chr or at least private fc for the 7 alts. so that is something like 25 bil? just for base sub ? I do not think anyone reached it. But ya if someone got over 25 bil you def can argue you need to pay to further "win" in who has the most gil totals.
I am also aware of the issue it is raiser to have all chrs in one fc for gil transfer. The thing is though you can put main chr gil > put it in main fc > log on alt, drop/ change fc, withdrawal it, and go back to private. It is a PAIN to do, and a lot easier on duel account but ya.. This is why I said 7 different fcs is not really practical, 2 different fcs sure, so 25 bil is pretty much practical cap base sub has.
TBH I had someone talking about this line of thinking for the last year? or so. She got a bit more aggressive with trying to list as many things as possible while trying to further advance her gil stockpile before the app came out. They know how much troublesome undercut spam is and just off that wanted to make sure they had "enough" Was even talking to a different friend where the question was "would you really care about making gil if you had over x amount?" Ofc the answer was no, so it was explained that is exactly why she pulled off paying for the retainers, they cost too much but might as well have one more run of 6 months before it becomes harder to sell things.

Tell me what advantage having even the maximum amount of gil possible in this game will give you over another player? Cuz I'm honestly not seeing it... or max inventory? What can you buy that I can't earn or gather or craft?
I paid for 7 retainers (+2 frees) and I don't see there is any impacting advantages.
The only advantages you can get is extra retainer venture chances and it is hardly game breaking.
These retainers can not help me in PvE or help me kill people in PvP.
Please do enlighten me
Each additional retainer provides a few things:
- Additional sales slots
- Additional body to send off on ventures
- Additional storage space to have materials on hand to use on demand
During my busiest times crafting and selling, I very rarely had to ever go out and gather materials to take advantage of a market opportunity. I already had everything on hand and ready to craft. While someone with less storage is spending time gathering materials, I was already taking advantage of the market.
And then there's the matter of ventures... Rare minions? More retainers lead to more opportunities to acquire concurrently. Those annoying mats like Halgai Mane? Oh yeah, battle retainers can go and retrieve them. Sending 10 retainers out will yield 100 in 40 to 60 minutes depending on where ilvl lands vs retainer requirements. Etc, etc, etc, as an example. And these are all things that are happening independently while you do stuff.
From a market / gil perspective, additional retainers is a significant competitive advantage.
