The question is what is enough though? Change too much and ppl will be unhappy, change too little and ppl will be unhappy, change somewhat in the middle and yet again ppl will be unhappy.
Yeah. That's why question too. When will people actually start quitting as opposed to just talking about it?
And when it happens will it be on a massive scale that suddenly hits Square-Enix hard, or will it be a very-tiny trickle that they ignore, but have years to fix?
Concerning Eureka, internet exploded with negative comments about it and made me seriously worry about it cuz I was coming back after a small hiatus and missed the first days of Eureka's patch. But in the end I actually liked Eureka? Still far from being perfect but with all that I read on internet I was expecting something way worse than Diadem.
As for pay to win, I don't remember seeing anything like that at all. If this is about the mobile app, it's hardly a P2W thing, no one is getting better gear for that.
*watch deus ex preorders*
*watch all preorders system and DLC for FFXV*
*watch a sub MMO with a F2P cash shop... MMORPG named FFXIV*
I lost all faith in Square Enix... the more i see what they does, the more i feel they go close to EA
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: [...]these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
Why do people keep comparing Square-Enix to EA?
I actually did stop my sub over this, and all the other problems I have with the game piling up and not being addressed.
Don't get me wrong I really do like this game. I wouldn't have stayed subbed for over four years if I didn't. But at this point, focusing on monetizing the game even more instead of adding value to it is sign to me where SE's priorities are. By all means turn a profit so you can keep the lights on. But don't cut out what I enjoy to add stuff I hate (like Eureka). I don't feel like what I'm getting is worth my investment any more. I'll happily come back if they start putting more effort into content and that nebulous fun factor instead of ways to extract more money from my pocket.

EA's got a reputation for doing sleazy things to make a buck, although it's also fairly trendy to hate on EA even when other companies were doing the same thing and got a pass. Sometimes it works out okay though, like the terrible lockboxes in Battlefront II causing the entire industry to be put under scrutiny.
SE's quickly developing the same reputation with their outrageous preorder bonus systems and now a sub on top of a sub. Not even EA has ever tried to pull that.
Survivor of Housing Savage 2018.

EA didnt came magically a demoniac editor... they began slowly, with little things... and continue.
SE began slowly... little cash shop, tried with deus ex preorder. then we have the silly preorder FFXV system, this premium app, with "mogcoin" i would prefer call canacoin, that will get more and more important (cf the "more use later" in the slide)
SE is on the road EA took... EA didnt born that bad... Nor SE. EA became bad, SE can become bad, they took this way...
not "now"
It was the funniest thing in the begining of cash shop : sub-retainer. where other F2P games are doing storage increase with a 1 time bill, SE did choose a sub...

Quickly as in the forum, nobody else cares about what happens hereEA's got a reputation for doing sleazy things to make a buck, although it's also fairly trendy to hate on EA even when other companies were doing the same thing and got a pass. @Aerlana: Wrong EA created that road, they invented the lootboxes not activision-blizzard, they also are the one aggressively buying out companies ONLY to shut them down
Also ppl are really ranting about this and their vision is distorted, SE did many controversial things but they also relent some times even before actuating this, which in my opinion is due to sheer stupidity not exactly malice, while EA on the other hand has shown plenty of malice

A little afraid to say it as I know how heavy handed mods are over negative comments, but yes, I have.
Final Fantasy will always be my undisputed favourite franchise of all time. But the extent they go to extract as much money for as little as possible does upset me. I'm happy to pay top price for a top game, even happy to pay for high quality dlc. But pay for the game, pay for a sub, pay for retainers, pay for mounts, outfits, minions, emotes, pay for your look, pay for your name and now pay for an app and pay extra for super powered app. It's just too much. You can do some of it, but not all. And worst of all I haven't seen massive improvements in the game. We get smaller patches, less ingenuity and creativity, yet pay more. It's just not right.
