Just so you know that a High Res Texture pack is nothing for SE to make and release.

That's hard to say. Their graphics engine could have built-in limitations. That said, you're absolutely right in that releasing the textures themselves is easy. There's no reason to avoid doing this unless the graphics engine itself has a problem.
