The official explanation is that they want to get the digests out faster and that the Twitter updates will reach a wider audience than the forum does. In my mind, though, I see it as them cutting down communication to us even more because we are not as important as the JP players. Especially since those live Twitter updates we got basically told us nothing except that a few things are headed our way. You cannot condense two hours worth of Live Letter into about four tweets, yet that is what we got. They probably expect fans to do all the heavy lifting... as people on reddit have already done.
SE is being as arrogant as they were in 1.0. XIV is the only real success they have had lately outside of phone games stuffed to the brim with micro transactions so of course they will try to bleed us dry to recoup losses and fund other projects...Us XIV players must fund XV for the next 10 years and the bad sells of Dissidia NT. This game is in the back burner.
Not to be a butt, but I kinda wish the game kinda runs on rails to something bad because they need an Eye Opener somewhere.
It's getting ridiculous, Eureka was probably the biggest disappointment in a long time for people and now more are questioning
the state and direction of the game. I know nothings going to happen though, and this game will live on forever...
(I mean FFXI has like 5 people playing and they still pulling monthly fee lol jk.)
But yea. It's just not looking good.

According to some datas the argument of FFXIV not funding FFXIV is false and the growth of the staff of FFXIV is actually implying otherwise
I dont approve of the direction SE is going anymore then anyone else. But sadly all these threats of "I wont buy SE products" and "I am unsubbing" is the same song and dance that has been played in other mmo's. Such actions rarely if ever bare fruit, your basically in a ghost town with a gun making threats and no one is around to hear them. Things will change if SE screws up majorly as it stands though the community is going to need to scream a lot louder if you want SE to hear you.
Once a company damages it's reputation though, it's very hard to woo customers back. This was something they appeared to have learned from 1.0 but now seem to have forgotten.
Blizzard got complacent with WoW, the WoD expansion saw numerous complaints which the company basically ignored until they lost a record number of subs. I would hate to see that happen here but there are a few pointers that we could be heading in a similar direction.
I'm not going to unsubscribe, but I am going to stop buying glamour items from the MogStation. I won't support things that are overpriced. (Keeping my extra retainer, though.)

Yet ppl buy their products no matter how stale their creativity is or shady their dealings are, even some pro consumers advocates got duped by their loot boxes.Once a company damages it's reputation though, it's very hard to woo customers back. It's all about a good PR management and they are stellar at making you eat w/e they want
I don't agree with that. Other MMOs are actually good evidence here - most of them end up failing. Negative community sentiment is a part of that, I suspect. Word of mouth matters. Just look at what happened to FFXIV's Steam reviews (which, incidentally, if anyone owns FFXIV on Steam and hasn't reviewed it yet, now would be a good time to submit a negative review pointing to monetization).I dont approve of the direction SE is going anymore then anyone else. I do agree that we need to be louder, though. And we need to move beyond criticizing just SE - the customers who are paying extra for shit that shouldn't cost a dime are directly enabling SE's behaviour. Call them out on it when you see friends in-game doing this. There's no need to be rude, of course, but their spending habits are effectively harming FFXIV; they should be aware of that when they go to the Mog Station.
What's crazy to me is people who have been playing this game for years are not happy with it... but instead of actually quitting and playing something else they demand that ff14 changes it's formula to suit their tastes... THIS IS FF14... not wow, eso, nambla or whatever you want this game to copy...
