I would prefer that flying stood. As it is now you have the choice to fly about or walk/ run to your destination.
If you wish to sight see, then take the long route. Every once in a while I enjoy doing this.
However if I'm only looking to get from point A to point B (for example rushing to hunts) flying makes this much easier.

Gonna have to say no for me. If you don't want flying in the map just don't fly. I have a limited amount of time to play the game. Spending so much time running or riding a mount on the ground for 1 spot to another is not how I want to spend it.

    Bleh not this again.
Been through the flying and then no-flying BS in WoW and please, let us fly.
It's already gated to a point where you get it once there is nothing more to do than gather, most flying mounts look dumb on the ground (ok a lot of them look dumb flying too) and there is no wPvP argument in favor of no flight here.

Every time I am in one. Seriously, stop arguing that it is somehow impossible to have immersion and enjoyment of scenerey when flying.
I've seen years of arguing the same crap in the MMO-C forums and guess what: it all comes down to personal preference.

As for the small maps: No. RL world is not that densely populated and neither should the game world. I do not like it when I trip over a mob ever 2 steps like it is in WoW.

Trust me: you won't ever see objective and logical arguments against it.
People have argued to death, revive and death again about this topic in WoW forums.

Bottom line is: some people prefer ground based transportation and some prefer aerial.
Disclaimer: We are talking about open end game, during the story development there are many advantages to restricting player transportation, the most obvious would be the classic "can't go there" w/o using immersion breaking invisible walls your Gryphon runs into.

It's the difference between the feeling you get living in a city and relying on foot and public transit to get around, and the feeling you get in the suburbs where you drive from point to point and interact with nothing along the way. I've lived both existences - it's a night and day change. Street vendors, impromptu music, small little niche stores - or, on the other side of the coin, homeless, crime - none of these are particularly visible even from a car, let alone from a personal jetpack. The impact is stark.
You know what is most immersion breaking to me?
Friggin flying mounts nailed to the ground because they suddenly forgot how to fly, staring at me with big and sad eyes, trying to jump again and again but fail to lift off.
If flying is part of the game world (and we do have NPCs that fly) then players should be able to do that too. End of the "immersion" story.

Question is...what does it matter to you?
That's the most important thing. Why do you care about whether others walk or not. Look at yourself. You are playing your characters, not the characters of everyone else. I don't force you to fly if you don't want to. Don't force me to walk if I don't want to.

When was the last time you appreciated the beauty of a king cobra? Or a tarantula? Beauty is relative. There are people that think that tarantula are just the most adorable little things...and then there are those that will wake up the entire block screaming and jumping on their table in a panic at a mere rubber toy resembling one.

I like how there’s this insinuation that having flying mounts and zones with piles of things to do are somehow mutually exclusive things.

Right? It'S like people are trying to find scapegoats for an overworld that always was boring since 2.0's inception!

I still appreciate the landscape while flying - although not as much as I’d like due to the way the camera ‘locks’ to our steering in flight, so I can’t turn it to look around me.

A very appealing thing about flying is that it gets you out of enemy aggro range, so I can travel without coming under attack (and having the music interrupted by the battle theme). ARR was different to the expansions because it had a lot more passive enemies, or you eventually outleveled them so they were no longer aggressive. Now you can never reach the “ten levels higher” safe point where you can travel on the ground in peace.

What beauty, every map in this game rather baron with few locales.. Azim had Dawn throne & really nothing else worth a gawking, Yaxnia got Castle & Upcoming dungeon not much else, Fringes is pretty much dirt & rocks very few zones have enough to be worthwhile on foot & then fact all maps with a decent sized area are even more baron like Western Highlands it's large with a Bridge & Dungeon to gawk at & f all else in between worthwhile to walk the zone.

Just maybe if they started actually going nuts on the Zones designed I might walk them but as they stand now they have two maybe 3 worth a gawk locales & not much else going on. You'd also probably get really bored walking these zones.. much like how everyone always whinged about the Waking Sands having go through that zone again & again... how quickly people forget how much they wanted to fly/quick travel & now some want bleeding walk again ..ugh!
If want walk you can but why force others who don't want to to do so, outside of few zones you never have to fly, you personally made choice ignore surroundings & fly.

Would anyone be ok if 5.0 drops flying and we can have dense forests and amazing locations like Eureka?
    No.

Keep flying please. The quests require people to run back and forth and I'd rather do them in a timely fashion than run 20 mins from one end to the other.
