"Please look forward to it!" ™
I wouldn't be around to see that day as my sub expires tomorrow, I'm just here to season my popcorn if you get what I meant.
This ^
I'm sorry Alleo, I do agree your version would be better, but I still wouldn't support it.
I just don't agree with Square offering a two tier system of the App that requires us to pay more money to access all the features. At this point it does feel like the company is managing to 'have it's cake and eat it'. We pay a sub but we also pay for basic features like storage and now inventory management.
Dunno... people not using the app would be at a disadvantage and you would have to keep this chore up every day to get extra stuff and constantly use the app to have access to the stuff on the retainer, at least right now I don't have to care about the paid MB thing because I can easily bypass it by just logging in and using the MB normally.
Basically, not using the app in it's current form doesn't really hurt me in any way that I can't fix myself. I mean I guess most people might not mind having to check the app multiple times a day to get free stuff (I'm so tired of venture/garrison/order hall daily chores) and move stuff around but I'm sure there might be others that might not want to deal with it. Free stuff is still free stuff.

Haha dont worry. It was more of an lesser devil kind of idea anyway.
@Vaer: You do kinda "lose" with the real app too since you cant have the between retainer management and you kinda lose 70 more inventory spaces thanks to the chocobo saddlebag increase. And since we dont know how we will be able to use the moogle coins..who knows if that wont allow us to suddenly change the MB quite more.
But yeah my idea was more of a: If they need a paid part make it at least way less usefull then the one right now. In the end a complete free app should have been the way to go. (Like WoW did)
Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
I just wanted an App where I could manage my retainer ventures and list more items on the MB. Why does SE have to take this simple idea and twist it into this freemium nightmare?
The extra inventory space I'm actually not too offended about. They usually charge for it (on XI actually they did the exact same thing, they give you some mog wardrobe space then they sell extra ones and at one point you had to have a physical authenticator (this was a one time payment though) to get access to another bag in XI), I'm actually surprised we even got the first set of it with no extra charge actually. I can just login to mess with my retainers though if that's what you mean by retainer management. Sure it's slightly more annoying since you have to be at a bell, but it falls down to convenience for me in the end.Haha dont worry. It was more of an lesser devil kind of idea anyway.

Basically other than the inventory space all the stuff in the app you can do yourself (even if it's a bit more annoying) by just logging in unless I'm missing something so to me it comes down to convenience.
Your proposal has things locked to the app that gives you extra items for the game, so I see that as quite different.
Anyways, they are being quite strict about the MB but for good reason. You could load this app into an emulator and do unsavory things to put it lightly so they are being cautious about it.
I do think the kupo nut MTx is unnecessary if they have a sub fee on it though but they definitely need to throttle the MB feature in some way.
The problem is the info isn't all out, my opinion might change once they release all of it.

And with next Expansion XIV become F2P. This app is unacceptable I'll accept the free stuff. But premium? No.
And don't forget the P2W style freemium app will get even more freemium functions later with the coins.
They mentioned it in the Live Letter. More milking is due to come.
Expect more IAPs.
When i see all the hate here, i sure wish the last april's fools would have been that to have a good laugh at peope taking it seriously :
"Do you find pvp and savage too hard, and being top ranked on fflogs impossible to do ? Buy these awesome objects to not be scratched while you do awesome damage !"
"Is 1% chance of succeeding in upgrading your eureka item too low, and 9% of it downgrading and 90% breaking and losing it forever too much ? Buy these awesome amulets to nullify the last two pourcentages, and having the first one making a big jump !"
Kinda surprised that nobody already told that the free version of the app is p2w as well, because it is locked behind the purchase of a phone. That's not fair for people not having one.
I didnt watch the live letter. When is this app suppose to be coming out?
