What's the most vile of all of this are the white knights on this forum justifying additional costs for BASIC features relating to a SUBSCRIPTION model game where you also have to BUY the game.

It does add to that, however they had an extensive exposition about bots issue on the LL and they added a bot section to rmt reports.
Which leads me to believe they do listen and are quick to respond to some topics.
What now I want to know is if the app will be like that in global or not.
Frankly I think that we need to state our distate of the current app system and be very vocal about the problems ESPECIALLY since atm the free one is completely worthless for non jpn players since there are already free programs that allow us to achieve some of those functions.
Not to mention that we must NOT settle for a double size saddlebag behind a premium fee (retainers are already too much imho)
Show me, is there really worse then this? intentionally trying to bloat inventory as much as possible (putting currencies as inventory items) etc, only to release pay by month inventory expansions and inventory management who's total is more then what the sub cost of the game is?You appear to be rationalising that there isn't a problem because other companies are greedier and have done worse things. I don't agree.
I am sure there is worse out there, but that doesn't mean this isn't a greedy cash-grab that gives significant advantages to people willing to pay extra.
Well... technically speaking, it's still slightly better than lootbox especially with how well RNG works in XIV. Not saying I agree with SE's actions, but it could get even worst.Show me, is there really worse then this? intentionally trying to bloat inventory as much as possible (putting currencies as inventory items) etc, only to release pay by month inventory expansions and inventory management who's total is more then what the sub cost of the game is?
Before its seen that I am only hating I will just give my idea of an acceptable version of this app:
First for me, premium felt fine if it was done to make something faster or give a bit more options.
So the free version should have been:
- Chat
- Event planner
- Inventory management for all parts (inventory, retainer, saddlebag, armory)
And 1 Free retainer.
I would call this the APP storage retainer. It would only exist in the app and at least in the free version cant be used to sell something. Its used to store more items and thus give us more space.
Kupo Nuts are still one per day but instead of using them for the MB you will use them to sent that APP storage retainer onto special ventures. You have one venture that need 1 kupo nut that will just be like the fast ones in the game and you have a special venture that need 7 nuts (thus one week of logging in) and that can bring you quite the rare items from the game. This way there is nothing completely exclusive to the app thus does not make it necessary to have it but people can still gain something from that. It could be pets, orchestrion rolls, rare mats. These can then be transfered to the real retainers and either used by yourself or sold.
The MB does not need nuts but instead you have a maxium amount of changes you can do per day. Maybe 10 or maybe 20. This includes price changes, selling and purchasing items. This way it makes the app more useful for the MB but would not be too much to destroy it.
You might question where they will get their money from if we can already do that for free!
Premium one:
Instead of one nut you will get 4 kupo nuts per day. This way you can already sent your special retainer to the extra venture on the second day and more often per week instead of having to wait a whole one to send it once. That means more chances to get rare stuff thus more gil. You can also raise the MB interactions thus for example making it double the amount you can do for free. So if you are into this kind of MB war you can get into it a bit more often if you pay for it.
And maybe some more smaller changes for those that pay.
This way people that pay do have an advantage but at least everyone that owns the app have the same basic functions and just need more time to do stuff.

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
It's not much better a premium mode that way will have more special ventures than a free one.
Frankly the premium fee shouldn't have been a thing at all
But imo way better than having more space, one additional retainer that you can buy and the complete retainer management behind it. With a bit of more nuts and more numbers that you can access the MB you will just get some small advantages over the ones that dont pay. Kinda lika lot of APP games let you pay for more energy or to unlock stuff. (AKA make things faster)
I agree that in a good world it should have been completely free. But sadly SE seems to get money out of everything.

Retainers where close to the line already with P2W concepts behind them (being able to list more items, more retainers = easier to price change, meaning if you put clone item on 2 different retainers, and rotate between them to always have a listing... and more retainers means more space to do this on different items..) this app though def crossed the line. But imo way better than having more space, one additional retainer that you can buy and the complete retainer management behind it. A sub based model should not have ANY P2W in it, (the worst a sub model should have is exp/leveling potions) this app is really shady.. .. going back to this:
coming soon, a service for the app that makes you pay 10 dollars a month where you do a daily roll for mounts, savage gear, etc...
I insist that if we keep our voice High we might be getting heard. But imo way better than having more space, one additional retainer that you can buy and the complete retainer management behind it. Look to the steam port of Chrono Trigger.
PPl hated it and they patched it
That makes me think that they can hear and comply to requests
