^This. Its funny that people complain about it now despite the fact that we have those extra retainers for years now.Anybody paying $10+/mo extra for Retainers has absolutely no room to complain about this app. It's literally the same monetization shit that the Retainers are, and the decision to rent (indefinitely) extra storage and MB space is about as close to P2W as we've gotten in FFXIV - including what this app offers.
Im not saying that the app is good. But going by some peoples logic in here the P2W factor has been part of this game for a long time now.

Pay for commodity which is just as annoying

some people already were angry when cash shop did appear with the first two retainer...
Just, year after year, month after month, it get worse...
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: [...]these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

Yeah I used to buy retainers till it spiraled out of control and even thought it was pay to win then, but back then I did not find making thread or posts on it was valid. Now with the app on top of things with more retainer? it crossed the line.
@Vhailor Also you use a website to help you manage inventory use for crafting and say it is on US??!?!?!!? that is the problem ... *dies laughing* YOU can't even handle it on your own, very hypocritical. Thank you for proving my point how ridiculous item bloat this game has. No I had no idea people used online sites to tell them about inventory space management.

I don't use an online site to inform inventory management; I use it to organize ingredient lists. The precise inventory impact is a side benefit. And while I'd surely appreciate Garland Tools being included within the game itself, but I've yet to see any game include anything remotely comparable to Wiki-style website resources within its own interface. This particularly applies for FFXIV, since Garland Tools would be a nightmare to manage with a gamepad. So, I don't fault SE here.@Vhailor Also you use a website to help you manage inventory use for crafting and say it is on US??!?!?!!? that is the problem ... *dies laughing* YOU can't even handle it on your own, very hypocritical. What I use to manage my inventory is common sense: I don't bite off more than I can chew. I know I dedicate one tab on each Retainer to items I'm planning to put up for sale; I also have the MB slots themselves. That's 110 total slots, at most. So, when I'm identifying items to craft, I... gee... take 110, subtract the number of MB slots and 'awaiting sale' slots I have used up, and then I know how much I can craft. Simple. Then I go out, gather ingredients, craft them up, store them, and I'm clean again until the next project. I fail to see what's remotely difficult about this.
I mean, seriously, what is it you're wanting here with this ongoing tirade you have surrounding inventory space and management? Any measure you've suggested simply kicks the can down the road. There will always be an item restriction. And that means there will always be some level of responsibility on the party of players to organize their own inventory and stop themselves from overly-burdening themselves with items. I don't think one can make a serious argument that FFXIV is any worse than normal in this respect. Could it be better? Sure - every game could. But item management is hardly a serious pain point that is in dire need of addressing, especially taking into account the post-Stormblood improvements.

It's not even a slippery slope issue anymore. It's a full on slide downhill as quick as possible today.
That quote is part of my signature since its probably one of the biggests lies from Yoshida himself. Maybe you can buy a timer for your house with mog coins in the future..honestly something like that would not shock me at all. If they ever do something like that to housing it would be 100% time to say goodbye.
Oh you meant it like that. Sorry misunderstood your post then.
I still find that even worse since now people have to sub for this app too for it..its sad how they made something that you already have to pay for into something even more expensive..
Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

I am not happy concerning SE's current direction with this game.
I was okay with stuff like the fantasias and the jump/story skip potions but the increasing amount of items added to the Mog Station (mounts, glamour, emotes,...) and the premium fee for the app to access more advantages like retainers and more inventory space feels wrong, even if the EU datacenter and the NA datacenters relocation were made possible thanks to these extra bonuses.
I love FFXIV and is my favourite game, which is why I'm deeply worried about it's state. To be honest if more practices like these are more and more increased, I might quit until 5.0
Why bother having a subscription price if the game's starting to adopt f2p/p2w practices ?
Just my two cents about this topic.
Wholeheartedly agree. And to be honest, once I leave, it's going to be hard to draw me back, even for an expansion. I like the storyline, but there are plenty of other games with similarly good (or better) storylines that don't engage in egregious displays of greed and monetization, and that actually wrap up into a conclusion by the end of $60 rather than another "to be continued..." cliffhanger.I love FFXIV and is my favourite game, which is why I'm deeply worried about it's state.
