I've confirmed with the dev. team that they won't be making it possible to dye job-specific equipment in the future. For some people, jobs and their equipment hold a special image in their minds and there might be those put off by the fact that the image can be altered by being able to dye them multiple colors. We want to maintain that special image by keeping the equipment uniform.

However, in the future, it might be possible to release different colored job-specific equipment as new items.

While this is slightly disappointing to hear, I respect the dev team's decision. Thank you for responding Rukkirii!

Its ridiculos that the rest of us cannot wear a color we want because of someone elses delicate nature of what a jobs image should be. If we are expected to pay for our accounts how are we expected to give a rats backside about someone elses opinion of the color of our gear and how it effects there image of the job?

However, in the future, it might be possible to release different colored job-specific equipment as new items.

This is better to read after the above statement. That being said, Its ridiculos that at this day in the age of MMOs, we are still so pigon holed to someone elses image of how a character of a certain job should look.
If I want to play my bard as a vibrant and flamboyant trubador, then I should be capable of looking the part and having multiple colors in my gear (IE. read head gear, green shirt, blue pants, and pink shoes) I chose.

If I want to play a dark hearted dirge, I should be capable of wearing a solid black set of gear if I find it fitting and appropriate, (or a black hooded bear for that matter) hooded gear needs a whole other discussion with it having less stats then helm/breastpiece in the first place, not to mention after you add 2 materia to the previous, yet can only add one to the latter.

Thank you for the dev response, Rukkirii! While I was definitely hoping for a different answer, I also understand the decision and looking forward to future higher-tiered Job armor. I can't wait to see the designs!

Note to the devs: The number of people who might be put off by the fact that the image cannot be altered via dye is probably larger. Please rethink this.

A common saying around these forums is that you can't ignore the minority as well. Besides it's truly not that big of deal if you can't dye these armors, you can dye hundreds of others still and continue to be able to do so in the future.

I wouldn't say that allowing AF armor to be dyed is ignoring the minority. If they don't want to dye their AF armor, that's fine. But don't let them dictate to the rest of us what we can and can't do to our armor just because it offends their sensibilities.

By the same token, you can argue that it's truly not that big of a deal to be able to dye AF armor, and that therefore the devs' decision to restrict dyeing is frivolous.

    More customization = good.

If AF is the best thing you can use, the everyone will use it. And if you can't dye it, then everyone doing end-game content will look the same.

As much as I would like the gear to be customizable I'm fine with keeping it iconic classic colors because it adds some sorely-needed series familiarity. Customizing the Job gear colors was never ever mentioned by the devs either so I don't think anyone really expected it. I'm willing to bet many people are in the "it would be nice if this happened but I don't mind if it doesn't" camp.

In other words, some don't want their gear dyed, so we are all made to suffer from cookie cutter uniforms with one drab color to keep the few from throwing a tantrum, good job......
Well doesn't matter anyway, since Yoshi has already stated his stance quite strongly that he wants crafted gear to be the end all be all gear. I guess players don't matter on these topics.

I think it's time to bring back player polls, forums are bullshit.

Much like how those had to suffer with basically instant respawn NMs simply because people are scared of dedicating a little time? (As in complaining about something insignificant?)

Sorry you can't have your jet black white mage armor I suppose o.O
