Yes, although you have one limit bar for the majority of the dungeon and a second one gets added when you enter the boss battle. If you get wiped out, the second bar goes away and reappears (empty) when you return to the boss.
So we were beginning with one full and one empty bar, and I think we must have been getting the second bar filled just as everything turned awful.
Oh, I hadn't realised it reset in raids. That explains why people tend to fire off LB1s late in each battle instead of saving it for something more useful later!
Time for my own noob question on limit breaks - do buffs and debuffs (on either you or the target) affect their damage, or is it calculated separately?

As a tank I wish healers were more like you. I hate chasing after someone who got accidental aggro. Either sit still or come to me.
Had a tank in Castrum Abania who would waste ALL his cooldowns on every pull at once, lost aggro to the dps and healer constantly, and did not talk at all. I think he may have been a bot from that behavior, we kicked him and thankfully quickly got a new and MUCH better tank.

This is also why you will sometimes see people pull the next boss with a ranged/caster LB they saved from the previous one. If its about to drain off anyway, might as well get some free damage. And i know ive read that LB damage is calculated differently, but ive never tested it. What i remember was that it supposedly takes the average weapon level of the group and multiplies it by whatever potency without accounting for player buffs and debuffs(if the boss is in a shielded/vulnerable type phase i think it still accounts for that).Oh, I hadn't realised it reset in raids. As for stories, I dont want to force myself to remember the whole ordeal but i had a real painful run in Wiping City last night. Ive got a friend who im helping play catch up, and he wants to run this raid for the first time. Ok. We go over mechs briefly, que in. The spider boss went fine. We wiped to the add phase in Forgall due to a combination of the succubus getting off her attack and half of the punishing rays not having players standing in them. Take two was a clear, but only because alliance b(not the one i was in) carried the effort. Every time megadeath was cast 2-4 of the healers from alliances a and c would die, along with maybe 1/3 of the DPS from those groups. I eventually died to roomwide attacks(when you cant heal yourself...), and lay dead for a couple mins. One of the healers gets off a LB 3 toward the end, but its cast just as megadeath is going off, so the people standing up are put right back down. Team B basically solod something like 30% of the boss. Everyone is congratulating them, and starting to worry about Ozma. So me and 2 of the others start explaining the mechanics(headstone was without issue). Pull goes well at first, but after ozmashade it starts slowly sliding off the rails. Meteors arent being done right, people are eating too many avoidable hits, and the healers from 2 of the groups seem overwhelmed. We make it(with me again on the ground, but this time only for the last min of the fight). As we run up the ramp to the final boss, me and two others are explaining mechs again. This time two of the tanks decide to fight for agro at the start, and half the part is caught in a haircut. I am among them, and i die(thats a serious bleed). The tanks eventually sort it out(actually, i think two of them died and the third guy took control), and the fight goes on. When it gets to the bijou phase, half the party is down. The orbs die super slow, but she isnt given enough juice to wipe the team(as some had predicted). We never wiped, but due to the volume of people on the floor we saw phases i didnt even know she had. I saw new hair combinations, attacks i thought she only did once got repeated, and i saw people dying repeatedly(often to the same moves). How did i see all this, when im on record a page or two ago about how i sometimes tunnel vision just doing my part right and hope everyone else will do theirs you ask? I spent the entire fight dead on the ground in the middle of the arena. None of the 6 healers, nor the summoner from my group(who did his best to try and help with resses) even tried to res me once. My healers spent the last 3 or 4 mins of the fight low on mana and still trying to toss rocks inbetween heals(and deaths, and being ressed by the guys from group b). I respect the attempt to damage, but i was mana shifting you on cooldown whole time i was alive(so... 2 and a half of the fights). I also deal more damage then you, even if im going to have weakness for the next min. And i know i wasnt the person messing up mechanics, i was the one trying to teach them(i only saw 4 achievements, so most of the party had done this before - and none of the achievements went to healers). Then to add insult to injury, i rolled worse then 12 people on the mini. Props to group b for pulling that sorry lot through the whole way, id have commended you guys if i could. Id also have helped more if i could. Painful. An hour or two later i qued alliance for tomes and AiN bonus, got an almost perfect void ark run. Fights were smooth and fast, people were chatty between and even during pulls, no fuss no bother. Even the minor screw ups were only a mild inconvenience. Left a better taste in my mouth for sure.

Unlocked the lvl 63 dungeon on my ALT as AST. Got paired with a PLD, NIN MNK. First pull I feel like things are dying slow, everyone's TP is near max. No AOE. Both DPS are single targeting their own mob. We get to second pull and I say AOE (CAN I HAVE IT) no response. Monk dies at first boss because they ate a couple of stacked AOE but it's at the end of the fight so I don't raise, assuming theyll return to avoid sickness. Nope, they wait a few seconds and then eventually drop out. Another monk joins, I think 'great this person is lvl synced they'll know to use AOE' . Nope. 40 min run and the only AOE used was my gravity spam.
Tldr got matched with three dps who wouldn't AOE.

Time for a positive story. Expert Roulette, got Hell's Lid. Me (WAR), WHM, SAM, and BLM (the main chabang of this story).
Path to 1st boss: I struggle a bit (I usually PLD if tanking Expert), but we do alright
1st boss: I get 5 stacks of vuln up... somehow we clear it with no deaths though
Path to 2nd boss: I'm shaky, mess up some pulls, but get through the triple pull before the boss thanks to good cooldown usage and very clutch Holmgang
2nd boss: WHM dies. We clear thanks to me shifting back into Defiance, and epic cooldown usage
Path to 3rd boss: I lose aggro a few times. Turns out the BLM got 5 direct crits in a row.
3rd boss: Melted it. Didn't get chance to get LB2.
White Mage ~ Scholar ~ PaladinBoi if you got kicked for the same thing in over 20 duties I strongly suggest you think hard on whatever the hell it is you're doing
As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.

What bad RNG luck in O8N knocks you off? I know tunnel vision can, but I don't remember ever seeing anyone randomly and unexpectedly get knocked off
Also I've made a staggering number of friends from forums. It's actually something I quite enjoy. It's a fun treat as you're well aware!
I never berate anyone in game (i will berate them out loud where only I can hear)... you're missing the point tho... qarn is a low level dungeon, you gotta be at leaste level 50 to unlock RDM, and the healer was wearing level 60 gears... both well past the level of dungeon we were in... by that point they should know things like don't stand in the orange aoe markersAnd did you enter the world being a god of knowing how to do anything and everything? How do you think people learn? Failing can be an effective learning experience and Qarn is a fairly early game dungeon at this point suitable for learning. How much did you try to help them vs berate?
