I was one such person. Already had DRG and BRD(possibly others - it's been a while) at 50, and wasn't paying attention to my GLA level when I queued up for leveling roulette. I offered to leave if the party wanted me to so they could have someone with the job stone at the very least. Thankfully they said that we will give it a shot. One straight shot later, I had 3 comms and swiftly went to become a PLD.

Yup, all it takes is everyone working together, and (almost) everything is clearable as long as you're at that level with 90% relevantly leveled gear.

This is why I advocate for a unmitigated wide open OFFICIAL parser. Tanks/Heals get feedback instantly for their performance whereas DPS get sheltered which is great if you're a bottom feeder, but if you're a good DPS you get lumped in with them anyway and it always goes unnoticed to the uninitiated.

I almost exclusively give my comms to DPS if they're actually good, but probably 40-60% of runs no one gets one. Just know that If I am ever tanking for you, I appreciate good DPS. Most often though a healer gets it because pug DPS are awful and my criteria for a healer is much lower, it's simply keep people alive and do appreciable DPS, not even good DPS, just appreciable.

And did you enter the world being a god of knowing how to do anything and everything? How do you think people learn? Failing can be an effective learning experience and Qarn is a fairly early game dungeon at this point suitable for learning. How much did you try to help them vs berate?

I spent an entire hour in the Vault for leveling roulette (as dragoon) - about half of it wiping out to Charibert after a decent run up to that point.

We didn't get a "new player" alert but the healer must have been not far off it - entirely in Lv56 gear plus Lv34 'Meteor Survivor' ring.

Basically we'd get to the same point every time - clear the fireballs, move into the hectic stage of the fight, 50/50 chance I die and get raised around then, either way the healer is soon dead at that point and we wipe. (We have the two-bar limit break at that point in the battle, but as the only melee DPS I never get a good time to use it - I'm either weakened from a previous raise or he just has too much health left versus the state of our party, and using it now will mean we don't have it next time.)

Eventually I work out that they are setting up an Asylum bubble in the corner of the arena, well away from where the melee players can make use of it, so we're missing out on precious healing - plus running to the far side of the arena to break the chains put me out of range of everything! Thankfully they speak English, so I can suggest they put it more in the middle next time - they thought they were being helpful and setting up the bubble to protect us from the AoE attack that wasn't actually doing all that much damage! They put the bubble in a more useful position next time, and we either clear then or on the next run - perhaps we were getting better at it altogether, but that really made a difference.

Massive credit to the tank though - they were very efficient throughout, and also had a "warning" macro set up that they used when the row of knights were approaching, which saved me a few times where I was super focused on Charibert and my attack rotation.

Overall we made it through, and nobody quit, but it was such a relief to finally get out of there.

Did Bardam's Mettle for the first time last night. I think the healer was new, too, because he kept on dying. On the first boss fight, the tank and I ended up two-manning it because the healer was dead, and the other DPS promptly died as well. I was on this job and spent the majority of the encounter spam healing him and DPSing when I could. Dual Cast FTW!

I did rez the healer, but he died again and then released or something because I couldn't rez him again. Anyway, felt good to down the boss and get through the dungeon and be rewarded with a new mount!

RDMs are the reason I always play hybirds. :-)

Just had a Stone Vigil for leveling roulette that got off to a rough start. I'm on NIN with a sprout NIN and a returner WAR and a WHM. We nearly wipe (I lived) when the tank tries to pull one of the aevis from the first room, and we somehow got the whole pack that bee lined straight for the healer. Anyway, the healer disconnects intentionally and I get to talking with the other two. I show the WAR how to draw the aevis without the extra stuff and get it into the hallway, and give the ninja tips about using Shadow Fang and their ninjutsus. Wellp, with no healer queueing in prog, I tab to Discord to enlist a friend who happened to be online to heal for us. With a few tips along the way, the rest of the dungeon goes smoothly. Seriously, WHM, why quit just because of a single wipe? >_>

Not really duty finder but party finder.

I need(ish) the Byakko weapon for my PLD. It's the last one I need for the classes I play relatively consistently (BLM < AST < RDM < PLD). I don't particularly ENJOY the Byakko fight, but I have 30+ clears so it's not like I can't do it. I found a party finder that said it was a farm party for the dog. I'll pass on the mount since I don't like the look of it but I don't think that'll be an issue since I've yet to see it drop. I join up, and the party fills quickly. First warning bell is we got a first time bonus (party finder was not advertised as such). I figure it'll be fine since other than the leg sweep, everything is pretty obvious (avoid everything, get to safe areas). Oh how wrong I was. We did explain the more important mechanics for whoever was new (leg sweep in second phase immediately after second stack; DPS drops their marker at the location pre-determined, and drops the puddles along the edges). We wipe almost instantly because someone stacked in both groups. Turns out one of the healers didn't know they weren't supposed to stack in both stacks; so they were going to first stack and then second.

We re-start; 15 second timer and tank pulls at 5 seconds left :-/ We wipe again because someone didn't stack in the second group (my group) and there wasn't really good aoe healing going on.

I notice the Summoner dying a lot and they actually get called out as the newbie. It turned out they weren't, though. Anyway. We wipe I think again before we finally make it to the second phase. Melee DPS dies during the fall because they ate every single ball on purpose (by the looks of it). We wipe on legsweep as both healers and the Summoner died. We restart again and make it through to the second phase. Now we're able to get Byakko to 40% but people keep dying to a variety of things: getting cleaved by the tiger; not stacking due to Paralysis from the lightning (which the healers aren't Esunaing at all; asked if both had it and the answer was "yes"); getting kicked by the legsweep; not dropping the orbs where they needed to be despite being told multiple times. The last pull, we again wiped at 46%. That's when I had enough. There were just 15-20 minutes left on the timer so I left the duty. It takes me a little while to load back in to where I was and in that time, the healers were complaining: "I don't know why people leave so early! It's just rude."

Dude. I didn't leave early. I wasn't being silent the whole run; I was trying to teach the mechanics, reminding people of leg sweep, telling the DPS with the orb where to go. I stayed until we had 15-20 min left in the timer and we couldn't get past 40%. We saw enrage at 46% for crying out loud. This was a no hope party, I'm sorry.

Also: If you're experienced enough to know how to use the party finder, you're experienced enough to put up a party finder for a learning party or a clear party if you're a first timer to a current fight. Obviously this is different if you're going after older stuff like Shiva Ex or whatever.

But it seems most try and sneak in.

Also....a farm party is meant to clear fights. :X I'm surprised the group was still together after the 2nd wipe.
