Not everyone needs to participate in killing mobs if there are enough people killing them. We sit waiting for more mobs to spawn because people are killing them too fast.

I have no issue with AFKers. Better stand somewhere safe and wait for fate to pop rather than moving in circles trying to hit monsters that are dying before you can even reach them.

I don't mind low-level players joining high-level fates even though it gives them less experience points. Low-level train is a thing, people are doing it. But if their fate does not pop and a higher fate pops first, I see nothing wrong with them participating in it.

I have never seen anyone call or being called that but then again I've stopping doing eureka a week post release so I wouldn't really know what's going on in there anymore. If I were to guess though it probably comes from dev apologists that believes SE can do no wrong and hurr durr you can't criticize them unless you can come up with something better yourself.

People fighting stuff elsewhere to spawn a low level NM are still in the instance. By your definition, they're parasitic for existing, not for being in the train.

@OP - I've never seen this happen personally. Every train I've been in, including last night, has been super friendly. The issue at the end of the day is with the content itself. The train is simply more effecient than chaining mobs, and gets even more so as you gain levels. The best way to get NMs is to stay with the train, since the odds of any that do spawn before the train gets to it are pretty slim (the reverse of which is not true, if the train spawns something you're probably not getting to it).

Since you need crystals and probably want lockboxes, you want NMs. The train delivers NMs. Going off on your own doesn't give a whole lot. Most of us recognize that just fine, and plenty of us used the train to level ourselves. People complaining about parasites now are just jerks.

That said, you can participate some. Every bit helps, even if it seems trivial. Or start dancing and cheering.

Not really, because to be "parasitic" you have to be getting something out of the efforts of someone else (while contributing nothing meaningful yourself). The people splitting off to go after low level stuff that the train isn't bothering with isn't getting anything out of the train's efforts.

If more people in the instance does make it harder to pop/kill NMs, then this is just a case of two groups of people unwittingly impeding each other's efforts.

Because all you get then is a low level fate, while train spawns fates at a much higher rate, while you pretty much miss all of them.
Why kill Darners (lvl 9 mob, lvl 4 fate) if that means I might miss a level 8 or 9 fate (yes, they die that fast).

Also that's how the train works.... you now how many people you need to spawn Rider/Gobbue while keeping all mobs on spawn CD? You need about 4.
Everyone else, most of the high level ones included, are unnecessary, still the whole train goes to those mid lvl night mobs.
Because when train is at Gobbue, and you wanna trigger Fafnir (higher) or Bears (lower) or even Rider (about the same) you prob wont get Gold on Gobbue.

Train gets your fates, you dont get train fates... who's leeching again?

I initially was annoyed at the afkers but i understand now. I spent the first few days of eureka grinding to get to level 5. Hours and hours of killing the same darn mobs to the point where i couldnt stand it anymore. (Hate grinding trash mobs) I had 80 proteon crystals to my name and there was no hope of ever getting the 1200 i needed at the rate i was going with just the grind as it was intended. The nm train happened and i hopped on. 3rd or 4th day the train was smaller and not many people to kill things so i got mad at the afkers for leeching, because things were not dying fast. Now there are so many high levels throwing one dot will kill mobs quickly. You don't need a level 2 throwing 15 damage when a level 20 hits for like 50k on the same mob. They aren't getting exp, they aren't getting chains, there is no point in helping except to raise and buff if they can. Its easy to be mad and hate the afkers but you gotta remember the alternative is hours of mindless grinding for teeny exp and hardly any crystals. I don't have that kind of patience and i don't expect anyone else to either.

I prefer the train as opposed to the “right way” of leveling in Eureka. It makes it go by faster, and sometimes it’s fun to interact with some of the people participating in the train. I don’t mind if low level players AFK when people are trying to spawn high-level NMs, especially since they usually end up getting killed most of the time. And I also do not like the idea of splitting the train, because one group ends up losing out on experience/rewards most of the time.

The only time I get irritated in Eureka is when you see a line of Level 20s not lifting a finger to spawn higher-level NMs like Fafnir, Hazmat, etc., but the level 10 in the party is trying to contribute however they can. Or when people are just massively MPKing low levels. There’s just no need for that type of behavior.

I tend to alternate between helping spawn and semi-AFKing after helping spawn a few NMs just to give my hands a rest, since the repeated button-pressing can bother my wrists sometimes. Other than that, I’m usually always active in the FATE train unless I have to actually AFK for some reason or another. This was the case even when I was a baby “leeching” off of the high-levels. I like contributing, but I also do it so that I have something to do. The FATE train is relatively boring, imo, if you aren’t helping spawn NMs.

Don't blame the player, blame the developer for making it absolute balls to level any other way.
This, hopefully a community manager can send the devs a report on how bad of a design it was to not give us variety in leveling. What happened to ideas like:

-Hunt bills (kill 50-60 enemies and get as much exp as an NM)
-Bounty hunting (search for a special creature which "was last spotted at x location)
-Enemy waves events where instead of NMs you get a wave of like 100 enemies and you get as much exp as an NM

Just different things. I like Eureka currently and I want them to keep the NM hunt but for the next one we need new ones to level

This could work if Eureka had "B rank" monsters. One monster on the map. Spots in some location, instantly respawns somewhere else once killed. And there could be like 10 different "B Ranks". These monsters giving zero rewards outside of the bill so people don't snipe or farm them.

I'll take this one since I don't see it really addressed - Have you actually been inside Eureka? It's pretty dangerous in there. The safest place, hands down, is the train. You have people rolling along aggroing mobs that they can handle, plenty of others tossing out raises, and it's overall just the best way to get from A to B.

The content is getting top heavy now and that's a real problem as high level players forget what it was like to be low level and no longer want to put in the extra effort to help. It's starting to head downhill fast and that means that anyone who didn't jump on the 'train' at the start is going to be left behind and will have to STAY behind unless SE does some very drastic changes to how players can level in there.

Overall it was a nice idea that might have worked for the XI playerbase, because we were all conditioned to be cooperative out of necessity, but it doesn't work with this playerbase and the cross-server atmosphere of "I can be a jerk because who cares. Never gonna see them again."
