I typically only spend money in there when there is a sale. Very rarely do I buy anything, and usually it's just a stack of dye pots. Even then, it's not very often.

Would I like that $12 emote? Sure. Will I pay the full $12 for it? Nope, I can wait for a sale.

I do find $12 is pricey for an emote, but I also realized that i spend money on dumb thing like over priced bubble tea. (bunch of ice cubes, some tapioca, cheap tea, and some artificial chemicals for flavoring.)
Emote seems nice and it was used to be tied to a PvC figurine, so i guess i will leg it go this time and buy it tonight

The FFXIV digital stuff bind to the physical shop is a fully different subject for me.

This emote used to be tie with a PVC figurine.
This is also the sole reason emote will not be free from a business's perspective.
How are they going to explain to those who bought the figurine?

To be honest, I highly doubt it.
Especially when FF14 bahamut is kind lack of its uniqueness comparing to FF10's Bahamut or FF7's Zero Bahamut.

edit: I haven't touch any EA published title after Battlefield 4 because I despite at this publisher's greed, practices, and their immoral principles. If S/E is really at the same level as EA, i will be first one out of the door.

I don't get what your beef is with the cash shop. If you don't want the stuff, DON'T BUY IT! It's that simple. The rest of us who have the money and want the items will continue to buy the things we want with or without you. I feel like you're complaining just to complain at this point.

Some people, myself included spend more than this at Starbucks every morning. This is a little high 7$ would have been better, but honestly it's only cosmetic, doesn't help me clear content I wouldn't otherwise, and it's par for the course for a business to sell shiny things to make money. Don't like it? Don't buy it simple as that. Not like your gameplay will change from not having it.

Because the cash shop is money sent not to make FFXIV better, the subscription is already there for this, THIS IS why we have a subscription...

Because, what you say now, for me, it is a good reason to go F2P, i did play various F2P, (and i speak really play, not going there for 2 or 3 month and leave, i mean mort 5-6 month+ ) some had really bad practices (hello gameforge to name one of worst... maybe worst) others were quite clean. GW2 except 1 or 2 fucking shit recently get a "better" cash shop (i admit those last month are not so clean... but after long time with a good one) than FFXIV. And if we watch to game different than MMORPG, we can see more really clean cash shop... in F2P

@divinemight : i know some people did buy statue and other thing from physical shop just for the minions/emote
BUT... even if i dislike this digital bonus on physical stuff, even if i liked the minions i had with soundtracks (and was sad when people said they really love one or other but cant afford the soundtrack prices...)
It is the silly people matter to buy a physical thing just to get a digital bonus included with.
