Higher ilvl gear locked behind the hardest content I don't have a problem with.
I would like to see more cool mounts like horses, birds and dogs obtainable through other ways that don't require savage/ex content, though, preferably through a long grind. The dinosaur mount is a good example- it looks cool and requires grinding Eureka heavily to get. Just need more cool looking mounts and less flying elephants. Really make them feel like an achievement. Nice weapon and armor skins would be good as well (hoping relic will actually give us some upgrade skins and better flow effects).

For future reference, it's always best to get into raiding savage ASAP, because the longer you wait, the harder it gets to find clear groups due all of the better players having moved on and generally sticking strictly to "Duty Complete" groups.

You are missing the point, really. People, like myself, want our characters to be stronger. Mendacity (or whatever the current tome is) gear allows people to do just that. Sure, things aren't really BiS, but they accomplish the same thing casually compared to Savage raiding. What I don't understand is why the OP (and possibly others like them) are so upset with how gear is handled, especially since we can get the item level equivalent a few months down the road like always via upgrade items. Raiders just get it first, and with arguably better stats. I see no issue with that at all. Both the casual crowd and the raiding crowd achieve the same thing in the end, just through different means.

well anemos gear or mendacity gear are more than enough to get you byakko extreme. If you are attending savage, ofc you need to be stronger so i wonder how it will be. think... think... well getting new stronger gear from savage is reasonable i guess. And in 4.3, with new 24 man raid and probably new relic step, you will be 370 too even without savage. i don't see a problem here. you can't expect people who do savage and who don't would be at the same ilvl or experience. so either get better by playing but not ilvl and do savage, or if it is a hussle or don't have time, wait for 4.3's 24 man raid or next relic armor step. I personally don't have time for statics so keeping casual makes me happy and when i see i do fine with a 370ilvl player in a dungeon, makes me happy too. Skill >> ilvl.

I don't know about you but I got my dino in just a few chests. Didn't really need to grind for it. That's just RNG, I don't think that's a good example.Higher ilvl gear locked behind the hardest content I don't have a problem with.

Took me like 850 chests to get it. We definitely a bit of a grind for me. But the point still remains- more cool mounts outside of savage.

Lmao wtf. You don't even need to be the primo ilvl unless you do Savage level raiding. Tome and Anemos gear isn't far behind, so there's multiple choices that give you the option of playing at near-to-the-top percentile. Literally multiple different kinds of content that can be done at your own pace that give you access to high level gear. Equipment from the current tier of Savage raids are a reward for the people who compete at a level above the rest. Rise to the challenge or accept that you'll only have access to almost-as-good gear.
I didn't care about savage, and you don't need savage gear unless your doing savage.
I got good, this was the 1st patch I did savage since 2.x
Took 3 weeks till my raid group of 14 members could get some members trained well enough to go pug it.
Now I've cleared it 4 or 5 times with in 1 to 3 try pre run.
I also got warrior cheese down which isn't easy and is stressful everytime I run.
Last week we now have 2 outliers who will likely get there clear this week. We started on o6s which the 1st to clear O5S have already done.
My hubby doesn't do savage till off patches
