I'm glad there's some connection but that kind of feels to me like a really long stretch.

These are supposed to be clues that help us figure things out, using recipe items is soooooo tenuous that I just have to /sigh. But I'm glad folks are on the ball figuring stuff out. Now my friend can get her 100 and we can be done with this event minus the 60k per week.

To be honest: After some hints and the items they turned to be out (Hello, Sky-Pirate-Pants!), I almost expected this and had thought about this item already. But then again I waste precious brainpower to remember about 80% of the games recipes, so stuff like that would just pop into my head...

If its any consolation to you: The weapons that "go" with the Platinum-stuff are modeled after weapons the bosses in the Crystal Tower Raida are using - so you could say the necklace is part of a set thats directly related to Allag.

Huh, didn't know dyes affected the stars, thought it was only the score itself. The dyes I used were of the right colour family, but not exactly correct:

It's all about points, and stars take into account the undyed points and the dyed points. This is why we ask people to provide the undyed rating, otherwise everyone screams 'I got a 3*/2* with this random piece of equip I have!' while all it is, is just a 1* undyed item that got boosted by the dye to the 2/3* point bracket.
ANY equip in themed slot give 1* = 2 points.
Give it the correct family dye, it jumps to 4 points.
Give it the best dye, it jumps to 5 points.
Translate it back to stars - 4 point is 2* and 5 point is 3*.

Also the other thing we keep hearing is 'I got multiple gold item, but I can't reach 80 points' - well that's because their gold is post-dye. We don't consider those true gold items, they're just 3* or 4* boosted to gold, and therefore still can be missing a lot of points.

And sure enough, going from gloom purple to currant purple changes the star count.

Yes, the proper dye will net you slightly more points.

On another note, the Berserker’s scarf (neck) from Sohr Khai/Hullbreaker’s Isle (hard) has the same model as the 100 neck slot item this week. Unsure on the points it gives, but it would be easily farmable if someone wasn’t wanting to spend Gil on the crafted item.

I got a 93 with:

weapon (currant purple)
thavnairian headdress (rhotano blue) - gold
witch's gloves (current purple) - 3 star
thavnairian sarouel (meadow green) - gold
shoes (charcoal grey) - gold
allagan earrings
platinum scarf of aiming - gold
allagan bracelets
ultima band x2

Swapped the hands out with archaeoskin gloves of casting (currant purple) - gold and only got a 99.

Luckily, I had already made a rhotano blue thavnairian turban (although I was hoping to sell it! ha) so putting that on got me 100.

Both the Thav. Headdress and Tights were dyed Celest Green. Chest is Ink Blue.

Going to give it another try once I've gotten some gloves, and the winning neck piece made. I might use a couple of my remaining attempts to test out other gloves to see how they work, just for more options.

Exactly! It's just many people are not aware of how the points work so they just thought they got a new alternative.

The healer's Thaliak's top and the archeoskin gloves of healing seem to be worth less than the casters sets even when dyed, which is very annoying.
