Same thing is said about open world NMs, not just instanced content
I'd say ive seen more ppl complain and screen bloody murder over open world content than instanced content.
I don't think anyone really has a problem with instanced content, but some of us want open world content as well, which, a lot of ppl seem to be against. Either because they might not get he item they want cause someone else is campin the NM or they already assume there will be a 24 hour spawn timer. There needs to be both types of content and even a cross between the two, with BiS gear coming from all sorts of different content.
i support open world NM's
can't think of anything worthy they could drop though. Certainly wouldn't be gear with superior stats, so maybe crafting material? Anything to make $$$![]()
what, there are 1000's of post about people complaining about they dont want instanced content. My argument was for a balance of both which is why i didnt understand your comment. there needs to be a variety.I'd say ive seen more ppl complain and screen bloody murder over open world content than instanced content.

To prevent monopolization by elitist shells, to deter botters from spoiling good fun for others in game? Why does all BiS gear HAVE to come from instances? Or the pop items for said open world NMs come from an instance? Some of us like the competition involved with the open world NMs and it seems kind of selfish that at least some of the BiS gear cannot come from open world HNMs
I'm sure the devs are wanting to prevent what occurred in FFXI during the early times.
Everyone deserves a piece of the pie. It's not meant for the same old people every time you turn up at the camp spot of a HNM.
Main thing I'd really want to see is the the complete removal of timed NMs or HNMs. The devs should implement pop methods via doing a series of difficult quests to obtain the pop item if you would like open world NM/HNMs. (And also since if your against pop items coming from Instanced areas.)
I'm sorry, but no, everyone does not deserve a piece of the pie. There are always things, whether it be RL or in-game, that some ppl will never get, achieve, or be apart of, that is just the way it is. Just because some people do not want open world NMs that drop relevant items, does not mean you have to spoil it for the rest of us who do.To prevent monopolization by elitist shells, to deter botters from spoiling good fun for others in game?

I have to agree with Syntaxlies that a variety of content is needed and it needs to be relevant too. Just because a group of players are camping a NM doesn't mean the content is bad, if they enjoy that, let them have their fun. Don't ruin it for them because you feel you deserve everything.

What you're suggesting is even more selfish that how you portray these "Elitist Shells" to be. You're denying others the content they enjoy, simply because you don't like competition in a PvE environment. To prevent monopolization by elitist shells, to deter botters from spoiling good fun for others in game?

I personally don't care about quests. How would you feel if I suggested that all quests be completely removed from the game? Is that fair? I'll let you be the judge of that.
It is not fair for 1 group to dictate what is mandatory for other. If gear is worthwhile from both events I see no issues here.
Everyone Deserve a shot at something, everyone is free to camp things. Things should only be deserved for those who want to do it. IF people do not want to camp they do not deserve items. Just like if people do not want to PvP they do not deserve what ever rewards come from that.
Only thing people deserve is the ability to press the log-in button and get on the game... that is where the I deserve X stops. You can pay 12.99 a month or 10,000 a month, all you deserve is the ability to log in.
Everything instanced is not a fun game design. If you disagree in my eyes you are wrong and I don't care about the counter argument... instances get very very boring with repetition, That is how I feel and believe it or not a lot of people feel the same way. I killed Hnms for a good 6 yrs on XI, that adrenaline rush feeling of getting a claim on a rare mob, never leaves even on the 300thish kill.
The game has to have content for everyone, casual content sucks after 1 week of doing it. Atm the only hardcore content in XIV is settlements to a degree... but the drops suck so bad it is really not worth doing outside a few drops.
Variety in Endgame = Good, no variety is epic fail in development. The lack of variety is one of the biggest issues in western game development today. While it might be the standard... it is one that should never be followed.
To comment on the bot situation: STOP COMPARING NM/HNMS TO KINGS IN XI....
The best way to combat bots is to not make a set spawn area or spawn time (make the spawn window extremely varied so it cannot be figured out... if it is ever figured out change it). Make it say lets use Tiamat can spawn anywhere in Corethas away from main road or Odin can spawn anywhere in the game off the main path, they can spawn 1 min after killed up to 24hrs.. no set spawn time no set spawn area. No exact spawn location and no exact spawn time makes camping/botting it very difficult.
Or make the NMs forced spawn. Say kill raptors near Baulderdowns, get a untradable item that force spawns a NM. Can't bot that.
Can't remove bots completely, but you can mitigate what they can do.
All in all if the devs want to make everyone happy they must make rare lotto spawns nms, forced spawned nms, Tiered Nms, dungeons, instanced fights, Large scale raids, mid scale raids, small (8 person raids), duo events, trio events, open world free for all content (defense things like campaign). That is what their last mmo had. Anything less the game lacks variety. They need to not repeat WoW's mistake of limited content.
I guarantee if they do all that above... there is something for everyone no matter what your playtime or style is. Some for everyone = everyone happy, forcing casual content on harcores = hardcore are pissed, forcing hardcore on everyone = casuals are pissed.
well said, normally id dont read long post but i made an exceptionIt is not fair for 1 group to dictate what is mandatory for other. If gear is worthwhile from both events I see no issues here.
