That sort of content isn't really new either, it was just locked behind FSH and sightseeing logs until now.
And Eureka NMs also don't count as Diadem NMs for some reason. Would have been perfect opportunity to make "Notorious Monster Slayer" title obtainable to new people, but nope. Have to keep it locked behind dead content.
.................I get why ppl do this just for the sake of the attention, but you can just unsub and not type anything. No one would care really. The game is going to continue moving forward.
- There are several unique new monster models, sadly mostly relegated to high level NMs
- The wheel
- Easily the largest zone they've added in an update
- Plenty of new items, some of which have new/unique models, and more interestingly some unique effects that hopefully lead to further development of the idea
- There's clearly an abomination of code they had to move around to make a drop-in, drop-out instance like this sort of thing happen. Something that will hopefully and likely lead to better dev times further down the road for remotely similar content.
Most of what's new is more promising than good on it's own, but it's still new and I can at least see why the project was stuck in development until the last patch at least. (Though leaving the gear at this abyssmal limbo of an i-level was a mistake).
I find it very interesting that the Timeless Isle was one of the best received 'hub' updates in similar MMOs, then square up and releases a pretty similar piece of content, only for it to be received poorly. interesting enough to more closely examine the comparison.
Somehow I feel like that the delay was because of that considering how everything usually is castrated by the system
No there is not, you just think there is, all illusion, all reskined, waste of 17 months.
um, the person that did not play 11 is you, at least pre treasures 11. Did you read ANYTHING i said? You would think there be a reason I stated I had 3-75s before treasures came out. pre 11 treasures there was 2 ways of grinding merits that past chain 5 (ONLY two camps, it did not work if there was some other party there), and there was no chaining past 5 or 6 (if your lucky) before level sync for leveling (teasures and goddess gave options to level off the chain 10+ thing) So you joined in 11 when things started to become easy mode, and you stand here and say the people that hate this diadem 3.0 because they do not know what a grind is?I hate to say if this is how you played 11 you played it a lot different then most everyone Ive ever played with. I played it by exp chaining trying to always get 100 exp chains so single mob fighting is not the majority of how at least I played 11; and that to me is a major role in Eureka.
Last night just me and my gf duo chained to 25, when we added more we could press into the mid 30s. We had to think of pulls and make sure we had MP and were paying attention to what we were doing at times we actually felt in danger and even once all died that was FUN and everyone didn't complain and even laughed about it. It actually felt like a party exploring content instead of FATE spamming, spamming levs, or DF spamming and overall just blowing threw content. In 1.0 there was Exp parties come 2.0 pretty much the whole idea of party play was dead and in the trash can. The reason I'm enjoying Eureka is because to me it brings back that feeling of actually having to talk to your party and do things as a group while having to pay attention to surroundings. I havnt joined the zerg trains and probably wont unless I want fast and easy drops but even that idea of zerg trains was a thing in 11 as well.
So again I still don't see why everyone is complaining yes its not your wheel house; well tome grinding the same 2 DF with random people who say nothing and then you never see again is not my wheel house. So do content you enjoy and let others do the content they enjoy. Problem solved and if there is nothing you enjoy stop playing find something else come back or don't games come and go so just stop all the threads saying your quitting because it really doesn't fix anything. The dev will see sub count drop so you making a thread only start community fights like how this thread has turned out to be.
HHHHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA
literal definition of irony here folks.
(my largest chain was over 300 for a merit pt in treasures, for pre-treasures it was easy to kill too fast you cut off your own chain to reach that high, that is why it did not work if there was more then one party, since 1 party was able to kill its own chain from inconstant bursts)
I had 3-75s pre treasures, and sometime after goddess came out because of it and level sync is when I had them all to 75. The exp gains before and after treasures and level sync was massive, so much so some felt SMN parties was abusing the level sync feature and "cheating" (though I did not exp that way, back then there was some social pride and I just did not want to deal with it, but I did use level sync in past areas and made large chains there off having cor or brd or both doing tp spam, like you see merit pts do)

alright, neat! This was cool to see when I finally got there... and.. turned off all the effects for everyone else. I honestly had no idea what the NM's looked like till I did that.
I don't know why this is there. They put in a mechanic to make you do a rock/paper/scissors check whenever you switch a type of monster. It' makes you either more DPS-ier or Tank-ier. Why? You can forget to do it and as long as you're not on the entirely wrong element, it's fine. Even if you have it wrong, it takes 5 seconds to fix it. I have no reason as a DPS to ever switch it to anything BUT more damage, Tank never needs to have it on anything but tank, healers .. probably should have it on tank.
I really REALLY don't understand why they even bothered and took out element materia and it's resistances. ... It was new though. Superfluous , but new.
Diadem was pretty big. There was a lot of air though. Being big isn't necessarily good though, it's mainly big so that you have to risk getting attacked by things on the way to other things for a longer time.
Indeed I like them adding actual new items. Scorpion harness is neat and I'm enjoying my mithra wind up. I'm not thrilled the "relic" armor is just the old SB AF set that's dyable though.
As always it's understandable that it was delayed while they worked around the mess that is the base game. I think a lot of us just think for so much mystery and tight lipped "oh it'll be so very new" we didn't expect the new part to apply to mechanics we didn't want and leveling schemes that border on masochism.- There's clearly an abomination of code they had to move around to make a drop-in, drop-out instance like this sort of thing happen. Something that will hopefully and likely lead to better dev times further down the road for remotely similar content.

I have no idea what that is. Perhaps it's because that other game has a different kind of player as it's main audience?

Timeless isle on wow was an island with essentially nothing to do because all the events that were up there were first come first serve type of deal and yes farming frogs and a masochist rep grind that was made out just to appease those who liked old style grind
It also had some world bosses that were mostly what NM are and they were on schedule, that said some ppl liked that kind of content and then wow essentially adapted many concept from it to the rest of the world.
Of note my opinion of it would be better IF they allowed events to not be a first come first serve deal, because frankly that irritated me to no end that I went in a cave to do an event only for some1 else steal it under my nose but w/e
Is this forum thread still a buncha unsubbed players posting to a forum of a game they don't play anymore?
