    The problem is not that this is not FFXI. The problem is that nothing in this game feels threatening because, at worst, you will die, and death is just a slap on the wrist.
    And because death means nothing, the game has no problem playing cheap tricks at you, with mechanics that will inevitably kill you the first few times, but since it has such mechanics, death can't be meaningful, and then people don't feel threatened, etc, etc...

    The sad part is that the first one-shot move was landslide, but, the first time you'd get hit by a landslide, chances are the arena is still surrounded by rocks so you have time to realize you'll be pushed back before the knockback is actually lethal. That's good encounter design. Same for Leviathan and body slam.

    In Eureka, death is heavier, so, obviously, you must design more straightforward fights to be fair.

    Can we uncap phoenix downs so that we can have 999 of them?

    nothings more painful than watching someone in your PT de level because you dont have a healer and nobody will raise them because they're not where the zerg is



    Anyways, hated it the 1st day with a passion, but once people started figuring out NM spawns i think its ok, feels better than Diadem for sure, im only lvl 13 and i already have probably more Anemos crystals than i know what to do with and will have a full set of armor probably before i even finish my weapon due to the final pieces


    the only thing i dislike currently is how i cant trade, sell or even desynth half of these duplicate items im getting

    FFXIV is a modern casual MMO, mean to be kinda easy to play to attract a big chunck of player, proposing some challeging fight for those who seeks challenge, even raid have a easy mode now.. So why for the love of Hydaelyn are you expect it to be or to become a old school hardcore MMO ?

    Because every formula will inevitably become boring at one point, so we think it's good to try something different once in a while.

    FFXI managed to keep a dedicated fanbase because it didn't shy from evolving and trying new things. XIV doesn't ask for any real dedication and keep doing the same thing over and over and I fear lots of players will be bored sooner or later. In fact, I still XI will still outlive XIV, despite being way older.

    You know what some old school games did too ? Use the "trial and error" paradigm to keep you on edge. Of course, it's an archaic mechanism and I'm pretty sure no modern game could be successful by reviving that, right ?

    Yeah, thank you mister Nostradamus.

    The "game will be boring" was already an argument back in 2.2, gess what. 5.0 will be a thing, gonna sell like hot buns and continue his "will be boring' life, because those filthy casual ain't that picky about what a good MMORPG should be.

    Eureka is a "lets give those noisy memberberries eater get their FFXI part of the game" feature, that all to it and that why i'll stay away from it at any cost.

    This is additional content from 4.2... Its not like this is the main content from 4.3.

    4.2 still added
    - regular & Mythic Raids
    - New Prime
    - new MSQ
    - new Best Tribes
    - new Hillibrand Story
    - and so much more

    Euraka was just the unfinished content that they added later. We usually don't get content on 4.25. Its comes like last years artifact weapon on .50

    Totaly agree, I don't make a whole cake of it, find this minor part boring like PvP and continue my life on the others and numerous feature of the game without a look behind.

    New and innovative is fine. Try new things and surprise us with how engaging they actually are.

    Do not lock things that used to be available via regular functions of the game and with steady progression behind these new things because now people who want that content HAVE to play the new thing even if they don't want to as long as they want the next iteration of that item. There is also the added fear that if I wait and see how this plays out I'll be so far behind everyone else that not only will I have to solo grind to 12-15, I may lose out on the chance to do ANY NMs until then as well. This is likely a big reason for all the blowback. If Eureka was it's own thing and the playerbase could take it or leave it like PVP or Diadem then awesome. But it's got our relic locked behind it now, and a built in (as of all the information we know currently) expiration on tolerable progression.

    The only reason most of the people are playing the new content is because of what you get and they've optimized their playing toward that goal. Aside from forum posts, I've met and talked to nobody in the instance that actually was enjoying the experience. I understand that it's possible I'm just not in the instance with the people celebrating and socializing, but my experience has been pretty poor and monotonous. The shout in every instance I've been in has been constant condemnation of how boring the area was. Right now you ride the train because you have to, not because you want to.
