Just to clarify, you only lose EXP if you respawn.
I'm now level 5 and I am ABSOLUTELY DREADING the xp loss system they think people wanted. If you are part of a party and are zerging, sure it's not a huge loss since someone might be able to res you or you can make it up on the next NM. But if you're soloing like they said you could?
If you just die and get a ress, no EXP is lost.
I'm in the minority that actually likes eureka... in fact i think this is how the whole overworld should have been... I love the weather and day/night cycle effecting spawns... I love that they figured out how to work elemental weakness and resistance... I guess I got lucky and the party I joined had their act together... leveling was pretty fast and the crystal drop rate was far better than expected... I'm on a limited play time these days like alot of people a few hours a day a few days a week... but I usually cap on tomestones in the first few days anyway so this is a good time sink... people want harder content until they get it then complain til it gets nerfed into the dirt... this game has its formula and it's playstyle... if you're not a fan no problem, this game isn't designed for everyone...
A party I was in would flag locations in the map when they saw one of us was dead, or just if we saw someone dead so our healers/RDMs/SMNs could go there and get them.
But this attitude won't work in arguably even a couple of months from now when people don't play this as much and you're left with the exp penalty. Hell you have to do that these days already because even IF someone who can raise finds you, and that's a big if, they might not raise you.
I understood that part, that's why I mentioned soloing players getting affected unfairly by it.
AND Which is a toned down version of what FFXI used to be which was you got back a % of your lost xp. It's a very small comfort that they decided to make res a full refund of that, but I'm not looking forward to lying face down on the ground shouting for a res. That's yet another gameplay aspect from FFXI that I could have done without being reminded of.
WHERE IS THIS KETTLE EVERYONE KEEPS INTRODUCING ME TO?
That's why i said in my first post that it will all depend on what the team plans to do with Eureka in the future.A party I was in would flag locations in the map when they saw one of us was dead, or just if we saw someone dead so our healers/RDMs/SMNs could go there and get them.

Will they add more daily quests?
Will they add daily challengens that give crystals?
Will they add a crafting aspect to it?
Will they add actual hunts?
Some people are saying they dropped the ball already.
In my opinion they have a good base to add and expand on it. If they fail on doing that, then and only then the ball will be on the floor.
They haven't really announced anything I can remember about adding to it though. Even with the much maligned glamour dresser they announced even before it came out and shortly after release that they had features and capacity they were working on that would depend on player response. That's why i said in my first post that it will all depend on what the team plans to do with Eureka in the future.

All we know with Eureka is they seemed really excited and sure that it was all new and different content and they wanted to make certain it was released properly and functional. Now we've got it and the system is already been figured out and the optimal crystals/xp per minute defined within 2 days.
As can be demonstrated by the poor response across both the JP and the English forums, there's people who feel understandably underwhelmed with what we were given. They built up quite the expectation with their tight lipped delay of it and people are saying "..... aaand?" and we have nothing.
It'd be nice to get some announcement or eyebrow waggling at least at the idea they don't think this is it.

And in others' opinion, the have a terrible base and need to expand on it asap. That's the problem. We have people who love Eureka and are totally free to do on one side and people who have serious issues with it on the other. People are totally free to enjoy this, no complaints there, but I wish we could stop looking at everyone who isn't enjoying it and going "what did you expect?/go play something else/stop complaining/I'm having fun so your complaints are invalid." Not you specifically, mind you, just sorta Eureka defenders in general.
