diadem 1: mindless zerg-grindfest with some rare mobs
diadem 2: mindless fate-grindfest with some objectives sprinkled in between
eureka: mindless zerg-grindfest with some rare mobs and leveling
is SE really that much out of ideas?
mindless mob grinding should NEVER be the main action!
Are you seriously comparing this crap piece of content (given to us for a THIRD time, by the way) with anything that ever was on FFXI? Even Besieged, which was crammed with people, enough not to see what your own character was doing, was *way* more interesting than this, in every single way.
Diadeka is a damn slap in our faces, and it's so wrong on so many levels, starting by the promise that it wouldn't be like Diadem (which, in turns, is a realization from the developers that it was terrible altogether, both versions of it), from the execution of the content itself. It is a grind, which was to be expected, but a grind that is, for the most part, useless, especially when you take into account that the most interesting reward you're gonna get is a piece of dyeable gear, a glamour. Sure, some jobs will get their share out of it in the form of an ilv350 weapon, at the expense of a morbid, mindless grind, but then again, that's stretching the worth of the reward. I don't mind a long grind, and I don't mind a long grind for a piece of glamour, but I do mind a grind when it's not fun, and even more so when I've been lied to the face again.
all this raises the question, does yoshi and co actually think that this is good content, or its really a matter of the "best we can do with what we have" scenario?, do the XIV dev team need more man power?, would things change if more people would join the team?
Sure, it's grind, sure, it's braindead content, sure... that's what grind is...
But what exactly did you all expect ? That's the relic... The relic has always been a hell of a grind. Wanna go back to atmas ? Books ? Hundreds of time the same four gordias NM instances ? That's relic. With a diadem aspect. And it's still more fun than atmas were, IMO... so yeah, maybe your expectations were off.
So it's exactly like FFXI with no claim botting.Except it is nothing like FFXI. In FFXI only your party could fight a mob at any given time (even though it was grindy), therefore the gameplay was relevant at all time. Here due to the fact that there aren't any limitation on the number of players that can fight a mob at any given time, it is basically like all the open world content in FFXIV : a mindless zergfest.
i will have loved to have some sort of hunt board where they was asking us to kill a certain number of enemy for get some reward and such, with a capacity to repeat, by example it ask you to kill 15 fish, you kill 45 and you get the reward of the mission 3 time. it will have give a goal to the farm...
even the system of upgrade, why not copy Monster hunter by asking to bring certain item droped by enemy, forcing the team to move from them spot for look for the enemy that drop the item needed.
but no... nothing of this, we have a fully random item that can drop or not, i was playing with a friend and in 20 minute he did get 7 and me in the same time i did get 3. for reach the 7 i did spend 1 hours and 30 minutes.
same for the exp, since we do have a deleveling system... why make the exp soo slow...
even FF15 do have understand that it's better to give a reason to farm monster, like the tempory quest that ask to kill enemy for get a currency used for purchase item, gil and exp...
why not we can't get a system of hunting like in FF12 or FF15 by example. no we had to compete against other player for get access to our hunting...
same why allows 180 player per zone... it's insane we do have zerg, we do have rude comportement and even MPK... i fail to understand what was the goal.
it's an expedition, and instead to ask our adventurer group to hunt enemy close of base or hunt enemy for gather material for study why they are like this...We are left alone to grind monster like in a corea mmorpg.
what did we expect, nothing actually, we mostly did fear it will be a diadem 2.0 and it's kinda this... with less objective, a grind stupid and without challenge. and people have always complain that the relic was a mess of grindfest and they always are forced to reduce the grind to some point... because some grind asked are simply only possible if you pours a number of hours simply insane.Sure, it's grind, sure, it's braindead content, sure... that's what grind is...

you want to know what was able to do for the relic? challenging content at 4 player by example, even solo content a la secret world. secret world had a trial that was means to test your capacity as player to do the hard content, a battle against a solo boss. not complicate but was forcing to know what what you was doing.
and you know, the grind can be fun when it's well done, the perfect example it's monster hunter, it's a grindfest, but still feel rewarding and challenging. here? no challenge, a good old zergfest... rewarding? after 100-200 hours spend to do the same stuff over and over... i will have 1million more fun time in spending this amount of time in any other FF game... but here we will need this sort of time for only 1 set of armor and weapon... that are not even the best equipement of the game!

On one hand, i kinda feel sorry for the devs, this is their third attempt at making this content and it's kinda failed harder than the first two attempts.
On the other hand, i'm kinda disappointed in the devs, this is their third attempt at making this content and it's kinda failed harder than the first two attempts.
Overall, for the wait that was involved, the EXTREMELY lackluster rewards and how bad eureka itself seems, i would not blame anyone for unsubbing over it. Especially given the lack of midcore content in this entire expansion.
I don't know. I mean, this is nothing exceptional, nothing new, nothing fun.
I don't mind mindless gridinding but considering that they left the grind path even in FFXI I don't understand why to go back to what is actually a just bigger version of the Valkrum Dunes.
