Individual housing still sucks

I keep seeing talk about 'Spaghetti Code' like people are literally reviewing the server-side infrastructure that runs these servers. Did SE release their server in open-source or something? Or are you just assuming it's a mess because people have a problem with how fast SE adjusts to everyone's needs?

they themselves talked about how working from 1.0 code has caused a whole mess of problems so thats where people are pulling that from. obviously i have no idea about coding (im freaking sick at making a html code do a real cool thing) so im not sure if housing itself was started in the "mess" of code that they have from 1.0, but they do seem to be slowly pulling away from that and making things like housing better.

honestly the biggest thing they can do is add more features to apartments/fc rooms to make apartments worth buying because right now they are just a small room u can dump furniture into. even letting FCs buy apartments would be great too.

You're forgiven. We still have to take classes like programming I+II, database I, ..., while other informatic majors have classes like database II, business informatics will teach more business relevant stuff instead of IT. So it's fine considering business informatics as easier in terms of IT.
Let me explain you what business informatics does: Every business has business procedures. Business informatics tries to optimize these procedures (lessen the time, effort, cost, ...) by using IT.

Housing still has a ways to go until it's perfect, but for now I'd say it's in a pretty decent spot. Well, if you compare it to how it was years/months/weeks ago. Things are improving slowly, but saying they are slowly becoming like Blizzard, I just....



I've given Blizzard my money for over 9 years now playing WoW. I know very well what they're capable of and what they've done. While I'd say SE is just as greedy...if not moreso (look at this game's cash shop, it's ridiculous), I wouldn't really compare them to Blizzard on this particular subject. Their stab at housing came in the form of garrisons, and it...along with many other issues surrounding that expansion, nearly killed the game.

As someone who used to play WoW I can tell you that this is very far from the truth. SE actually introduce a lot of things the community asks for. They even hold contests for players to visually design content. I can't recall a single time (from WoD and before) when Blizzard allowed players to design any sort of content for WoW. SE listened to their community when the Shirogane launch was a disaster, we got more wards and the system was changed to reduce ownership abuse. WoW lost an embarrassingly high percentage of subs before they decided to listen after ignoring the community for several years. These companies treat their communities very differently.

Housing is a very complex issue. This isn't like adding a new colour of dye, fixing a bug, reworking a combat ability, or even introducing a new class. Housing is more than just what the players experience, it's also the massive workload it inflicts on the servers.

Yes I do want housing fixed and I do want it to be better and different...but at the same time I realise what a monumental task it is for anyone to do. It is actually easier to add a new questing zone to the game than multiple wards.

Never mind how each ward is it's own zone, each ward is unique because of who owns what plot and what decorations are used. There is likely far more information in one ward than any questing zone in the game.

The solution only seems simple if you're not the one having to directly do it.

That being said a lot of this is because SE are standing firm with the ward system. But even a complete overhaul would take an incredible amount of time to accomplish.

I quit in late 2015/early 2016 and haven't been able to consistently get back into this game since then. I'm trying. A lot of it kills it for me. I can't do end game raid content right now due to my schedule, but so much of the casual content is gatekept - even buying and decorating houses is a high level raid, basically. Between that and the constantly minor frustrations over quality of life it just burns me out and makes me log off.

The truth is much of WoW's QoL is because of add-ons. Not saying there's none without them, there are. But players still have to turn to add-ons for a lot of QoL. If you raid add-ons are pretty much mandatory. I really don't miss having to rely on buggy third party software to have a decent raid ui, and dreading every patch day because so much doesn't work properly for days. And no I have never felt the need for add-ons in XIV. SE did a good job on the ui as far as savage raiding is concerned. The inventory and retainer ui's however definitely need work.

I see your point but I like how events aren't the same every year in XIV. In WoW you do them once and that's kind of it. Rarely a reason to do them again so if you play for long enough the events simply become meaningless and you end up not caring about them at all.

After Eureka...I honestly have to agree with you. Not just about what you mentioned, but about...pretty much everything Yoshi and the devs do, and ESPECIALLY what they don't do. This game needs help. Serious help.

Housing needs some work but it seems ok for now. If only i could actually buy a house without searching for free spots every hour hoping one is available, and then actually be the first to buy it when the timer allows..... Anyone know when the next bunch of wards are being added?
