Generally speaking if a thread has aged past a certain point it can be left alone and a new thread opened. If not, many, many threads would've been locked/deleted I'm sure. Different forums have different rules but this usually applies among them all. The reason is because info in an older thread can be outdated.

Of course not. People can't repeat the same things over and over again if you keep bringing up threads where they've already done it, and that makes it much harder to farm likes.

(Apparently they do keep old threads going on the Japanese forum.)

Meh, Damned if you do and damned if you don't.
Cast raise on a dead thread and you get people moaning because of your poor raise macro and crying out to "LEAVE THREAD ALONE!!!!!"
Then if you don't and pop your own thread people complain with cries of "NOT THIS THREAD AGAIN."
just do what you want, you'll get your answer be it a new thread or a necro thread it's still a place to ask that question and have it answered. Better that than asking in a totally irrelevant topic.

Looks like they recently nerfed that content pretty hard then.

I believe you meant the age old war between the forumbots and postercons. The forumbots believe in posting only in recent threads but the postercons have rebelled by bringing up the forbidden ancient threads.

They really should have reworked the 2.x/3.x SMN into Necromancer with multiple skeleton pets and made an entirely new Summoner class that actually summoned things. When they implement this in 5.0, I'll unlock necro, come back to this thread and raise it from the grave.

That's what I've been saying for awhile now! Except Zombies over Skeletons to tie in with zombibrand for both lore friendly and more friendly necromancy.
