I'd assume that's from so many players find the traditionally sexualized appearance of Viera turns them off, without realizing that we already have hundreds of players running freely in swimsuits/lingerie no matter their race, and most Viera toons wouldn't be said players.


But, I still voted yes for both sinxe I like both ideas.

Nothing against cute races but we have enough on game. All our races looks cute and not badass. If I wanna a beast race I wanna something aggresive and intimidaiting, like the daemons (demons) from FF XV or something similar to Ifrit. We already have Podt with infernal theme and Hells Lid. Sorry but if the au ra are our demons or succubus/incubus race, we are doing it wrong!

Thanks for responding everyone! I didn't actually expect this to get any attention.

I've noticed two things that keep popping up: "wouldn't they have to be retconned in?" and "couldn't you just remove the moogle features and make them their own race?"

In response to the first, I don't believe so . There's a lot of vague places in the lore where you could squeeze them in if you wanted to. My very very loose lore shoehorn was that they just happen to look like moogles, but you could come up with your own ideas of how they'd show up. There's a lot of vagueness in certain pieces of lore that you could find a fit them in. They could share a common ancestor with the moogles we know who lost their ability to fly, they could be a suspiciously similar-looking beast tribe exclusive to Ivalice, or they could just moogles the Allagans pumped full of whatever they had on hand at the time. We won't know if they even exist until we see more of the Ivalice storyline.

In response to the second... You could, but then you'd be losing the appeal of playing a moogle. You'd just have a small rabbit race with limited customisation options and from there you could make the argument of "if it's a rabbit race then why not just make Viera?" which was something I was trying to avoid. I'm not saying it'd be a bad idea or anything, just that there has to be some distinction between the two.

Well, the oroiginal sketches for the Au Ra (or Dragon Race as it was dubbed in the images) was pretty bad ass. they just didn't go fwd with it cuz they wanted to be lazin on the gear design.
