[dev1207] Question about gear made before patch 1.20 arrives.

With the release of patch 1.20 the team plans to change it so we can dye gear any color we choose independent of attributes added. But it has me pondering the effects on our current gear.

Example:

<Patch 1.19>
Electrum Monocle (White)
Intelligence +4 Magic Accuracy +5

With the current system adding a color gives +5 to Magic Accuracy for this particular item. However, once 1.20 drops will the item remain the same or be converted without the added attribute? In other words, will a pre-1.20 item become

Electrum Monocle (Increase Magic Accuracy) (White)
Intelligence +4 Magic Accuracy +5

or

<Patch 1.20>
Electrum Monocle (White)
Intelligence +4

I'd like to know if there's reason to pursue colored gear right now, or if it'll be all for waste when the piece of equipment will just be converted to a colored variation without the added attributes.

Is that known for certain? I think a response from Yoshida suggested that they had to get rid of the stats to make colors separate. And last time SE overhauled the whole equipment system they made everything "dated". While I don't expect our gear to be dated I'm wondering if with the new changes coming it will remain the same, just without the beneficial stats tacked on.

Thanks, that definitely helps. I wasn't certain if my current gear would retain the stats or not. I was about to convert some of it to materia once 1.20 drops just to get rid of it being it was useless. Now that I know otherwise it's much better. And any idea if you'll be able to dye uncolored gear that has materia equipped to it already?

Yes, after dyeing an uncolored piece of gear with materia on it, the materia will remain. Also, if dyeing an HQ piece of gear, the gear will remain HQ after dyeing, regardless of dye quality.

Now the question is, can this be applied to dated gear?!

Nope, dated gear is not dyed the same way. Besides, the recipes for making dated gear will be removed, hence dated gear.
