It makes it even more unfathomable that this was in normal mode...where it’s nowhere near crazy enough for you to have no time in a full minute to hard-cast a Raise. It was just awful; I felt so bad for that SMN. They weren’t even bad, either. Had good damage up until the healers let them lay there for a literal minute.

That's so weird @_@; normally in dual-healer content from my experience one healer defaults to hard-raises while the other puts on their adult hat and heals solo for a while. To have neither do that is just negligence.

So... vague spoilers for fight mechanics?
Of the 13 coil instances there are roughly 3 that you have to pay some attention to mechanics on if running currently as an unsync. In 1-4 your attacks are strong enough that the enemy moves dont matter. In 5 you get some groups that burn the boss down before his script starts, and some that dont. If he flies off the field and doesnt have enough DoTs on him to finish the fight, then the divebombs still have the ability to one shot people(or whole groups) who do them wrong. In 6-8 you dont have much to worry about. Turn 9 is the hardest one of the bunch. You can spend an hour explaining and showing meteor placement, and some people will still not pay attention when they start to actually fall and potentially wipe the group(of theyll finally get past it and let the golems merge and wipe anyway). Ive seen a couple groups do an alternate(level 70) strat of purposefully putting all meteors in the same place and healing through all the resulting explosions. This healer-intensive strategy is easier to explain and harder for non-healers to mess up, but it hasnt seemed to be widely adopted yet(from my experience anyway). Turn 10 and 12 dont really have much to worry about now, and anyone who made it to 13 should be able to handle the mechanics and damage that get tossed out. If the adds in turn 11 arent tanked right they get a massive buff. It makes them hit roughly 10 times harder, and take roughly 1/10th damage. A strong group can still handle that, a weaker/smaller one probly wipes and tries again. If done correctly, they arent at all special.
If "do them right" means doing them at their intended level, you still need a static or dedicated linkshell for that most likely. A que will rarely fill, and most of the people you would get paired with wont know enough/be able to pull off the strats to win on the harder fights(and at 50, more then the ones listed above would still count as "harder"). With that said, there are plenty of people who would want to join said LS either for nostalgia, pride or just the experience of doing it. So dont give up if its on your to do list, would just take a bit more work to pull off is all.

Just had a tank in Doma castle whose left side gear consisted of level 60 NQ gear sold at a vendor. It was painful.

**incoming long-ass post**
TL;DR: Ninja in Haukke Manor slapped me at the end because I kept letting her get thwapped around after she REPEATEDLY pulled throughout the entire dungeon. Tank in Shiva HM went into Defiance after saying he was OT, ate every aoe and nearly wiped the group by not turning Shiva around at all to aim the cleave at myself and him.
So, admittedly I might have been a bit cranky last night due to a lack of sleep. I've leveled all my casters now (yay) and the next closest to 70 is my DRK. My partner and I decided that before I go to bed, because I had been stubborn about doing just that, we take on a leveling roulette rather than Sirensong (which would have given me a chain bonus at lvl 61 but that's ok) because it'd be faster. We probably should have went with Sirensong.
We load in to Haukke Manor NM. We have a Ninja sprout and a Black mage sprout. The ninja is synced down from lvl 59. The sprout is synced from level 28. My partner is going as his AST. As soon as the gate drops, protect is being cast but the Ninja pours on the coals and books it away from us, missing protect. They run down the hallway with me racing to catch up and they pull the first room. Okay, so this is how we're going to do things.
I check their true level and decide that you should know better at nearly 60 that you don't pull unless you're a tank (or have discussed it beforehand). I let them get smacked a little bit by the floating lady thing (succubus?) before I pull her off them. While we're dealing with that, the ninja disappears into the next room and, you guessed it, pulls the mobs there and brings them to us.
Now, my partner is trying to Esuna paralysis off me, keep me alive, I have aggro on everything but things are dying slowly. I figure it's level sync and just because I don't have any AOE capabilities at this low level. I type into chat "please let tank pull enemies."
The ninja dies in the process and my partner refused to raise them partly because they were busy keeping me alive and partly because they were annoyed. The ninja returns (since we're right at the first room anyway) as we clear that first pack. Go to the next room, get the key, open the door, and before I could move - Ninja runs in and pulls the next floating woman.
This goes on several more times. Meanwhile, whenever we're facing a pack I'm noticing that it's taking a god awful long time to clear them and I finally start watching the black mage casts. Fire. Fire. Fire. Fire. Fire. Blizzard. Blizzard. Fire. Fire. Fire. Single target attacks.
I type into chat "BLM please use Fire 2" and watch them continue to spam Fire. *sigh*
We make it to the first boss and before I can, the ninja pulls her. That's it. I'm done. I'm tired, you're making this run longer than it needs to be with me having to try to pull aggro back off you. You know what - you spank it YOU tank it.
I let her get thwapped around a bit, healer lets her health get low and then heals her up before I pull the boss off her and we clear through it eventually.
We get down into the basement and I take the shortcut first, through the door and then turn left to jump down rather than going down the ramp. I quickly grab that pack down there. AST partner follows me but the other two - nah they go down the ramp pulling all the baddies on it. Ok miscommunication (noncommunication, I guess). I grab them and then notice again that BLM is just spamming Fire 1. I don't have time to type because I'm burning cool downs and my healer is working to keep me on my feet (he didn't even have time to pull many cards).
Finally, when we clear that, I /point at the black mage and type into chat "*person's name* please use Fire 2 on packs over 2. It is your aoe skill."
We're hoping for a miracle here. Ninja runs ahead and (you guessed it) pulled not one, not two, but three packs. I'm just.. so annoyed at this point. It wasn't an accidental pull, she was very blatantly running ahead and into different rooms, attacking, and then kiting them around until she picked up more and wasn't bringing them back to me like I would expect someone who wanted to clear through stuff quickly. Healer lets her eat floor again and again because I'm having to take on everything she pulled, he lets her return to the start point.
Now though, we do have a miracle: Black mage starts casting Fire 2. Thank you cheezus. Things are dying a bit faster now; not sure if the ninja was/could aoeing but it's a bit faster. After this, it looks like the ninja learned her lesson and she didn't pull through the rest of the basement until the Jester and the butler(?). She pulled them before we were even in the room (she opened the door, sprinted ahead to get there).
I pull them off, mark the Jester, and thankfully the BLM understands and Fire 1's it. We all return. Ninja runs up the stairs, opens the barrier, I sprint and grab the eyeball before the Ninja can. We get into the boss room finally(!!!!) aaand.. Ninja pulls.
*insert copious amounts of exhausted cursing on voice chat*
I pull the boss off because I just want to be done and out of here. We do finish, no one dies. I cheer on the black mage because hey, they LISTENED to my advice to use Fire 2 during aoe attacks rather than Fire 1.
Ninja comes up to me and does this:
[21:22]Pull-happy Ninja: slaps you.
Really.
Really?
*sigh*
No comms either. I didn't expect any. AST friend got none either though he didn't expect any.
Second story came right after this. I am a SLIVER away from leveling on DRK so I suggested a Trial roulette, figuring we'd get something easy and we did. Shiva HM.
We have a returning player on WAR as my co-tank. He types into chat "Im OT." No problem, I pop Grit on and leave Darkside off. He promptly puts himself in Defiance. My partner on voice chat tells me "tell him to get out of Defiance if he wants OT" so I check what Defiance is real quick and yep, enmity generation (I don't have WAR yet) and so I tell him "if you want OT please don't use Defiance" aaannnddddd.. he tomahawks or whatever it is WAR uses to pull and does not get out of defiance. Okay then. I drop Grit, throw Darkside on and it's just this giant clusterf*ck. Midway through, he didn't turn keep her turned away from the pack and she cleaves EVERYONE and FOUR dps eat dirt. He's eating all the aoes he can, I'm dodging them because they're not hard to dodge but we clear.
I got four comms.
And then I went to bed.

Canadian, eh!"When someone told me I live in a fantasy land, I nearly fell off my unicorn"

was doing DR, got KotL, I was RDM, we had a sprout PLD. from the start it smelled trouble because tank ran ahead w/o protect. there were several times that s/he lost aggro even if I'm already on Diversion. I think the WHM was trying to tell the PLD to do better, but instead of just saying whatever mistakes that need to be corrected, it seems to me that s/he's trying to take the aggro away from the other. at first boss all died at 30ish% except for me, so I just wiped.
after we cleared the first boss PLD said 'brb for a minute' but instead of waiting nor saying anything, WHM deliberately pulled the mob towards us. I went back to the boss room and typed "you handle that yourself" "seriously". DRG too went back in the boss room shortly after. I saw WHM died and respawned to start.
at last boss DRG probably had enough and told PLD to be on tank stance. we survived, barely. should've given the comm to the DRG :P
A note about your Shiva run:
As a (possibly former) DRK main, this saddens me. Darkside should always be on, regardless of Grit's status. Darkside isn't a "DPS stance" it's a damage boost and required for several of your other skills to work. Ideally, you should turn it on when you log in and if/when you get synced down (assuming it's available at your sync level) and forget about it.

Dancer is a physical hybrid melee/range class, not a true ranged class. I love it.
