It used to require a lot more thought and pre-planning. 4.0's main goal was the lower the skill ceiling while raising the skill floor, and it achieved just that, only in a really un-fun way. If you used too much Dark Arts in HW, you dropped Darkside and it really screwed you over big time and the difference in DPS was a lot more massive than now. Dark Arts now is just a throwaway button you basically spam the moment you can on nearly any ability: there's no difference between using it on Siphon Strike or Souleater or Bloodspiller, it's all the same DPS increase. You do still need to use it with Carve and Spit on cooldown and that's a tiny bit harder now because you must double weave it in a little more often due to Siphon Strike accidentally consuming it, but there's no more Scourge to maintain, running out of MP is no longer an issue, you don't have to use Dark Passenger on cooldown.

Why not just weave it after Souleater before you get back to Syphon Strike. You don't always have the mana to DA Syphon Strike and it was always my impression it is better to DASE.
