Just to clarify, Beast Tamer is the "CLASS" and Summoner is the "JOB" that it becomes.I believe it was mentioned somewhere... I think another interview that classes would possibly get 2 jobs each. So a 1:2 would probably be right. It was also stated that it takes 2 classes to unlock the job one at lvl 30 and one at lvl 15 or so. I don't think they would ever make it a 2:1 ratio even though that would be interesting but then would said job for the 2:1 get to use all the abilities of the class that equips it and also be able to use all crossclass skills of the second class?
I also wanted to add more to my list of classes/job because I know some though hey Nadien I don't see SMN or BST on that list... you are right and I am sorry I missed those two jobs ><
So... here you go
Class name CLR (Caller)
CLR lvl 30 MRD lvl 15: BST (Beast Master)
CLR lvl 30 CNJ/THM/ARC lvl 15: SMN (Summoner)
Just a thought....
The cat is bemused =-.-=
This was in the live letter #2
My mistake, I meant an interview, not the live letter.
There is an interview where he explains the 3 examples of having "pets" and how the system works.
He also explains the Beast Tamer is the class, and SMN is the job.
i know the interview you are talking about. he says the class beastmaster controls a mob for a short time, then it leaves and you have to get another mob to control, and he says the job summoner would summon a spirit which would follow it around. he tells us how the class beastmaster will work, and how the job summoner will work, (he also tells us how the chocobo buddy system will work) although we he says summoner is a job, he never says it is beastmasters job
he never says the 2 are related, he talks about 3 thing what they all have in common is the pet theme
although i think it probally will be, but i'm not assuming anything coz you just never know![]()

What I have shown you is reality. What you remember, that is the illusion.
First, sorry for the necrobump but when something is said in a definitive way I can't rest until I address it.i know the interview you are talking about. he says the class beastmaster controls a mob for a short time, then it leaves and you have to get another mob to control, and he says the job summoner would summon a spirit which would follow it around. he tells us how the class beastmaster will work, and how the job summoner will work, (he also tells us how the chocobo buddy system will work) although we he says summoner is a job, he never says it is beastmasters job

Second, they could be related:
SourceGamer Escape: There was a tame ability mentioned as well, so does that mean Beastmaster as well?
Yoshida: Yes. The foundation or system for using pets in battle is currently being made. So yes in the future there will be a beast tamer type of class. Again, it’s all about that adding one class means adding more jobs and all these extra things. So all these jobs won’t come at the same time. It’s all about the priorities, but it is on the list and we are making preparations for it.
Like one idea could be for example maybe having a beast tamer class and that job would be like a summoner type of job.
that told meFirst, sorry for the necrobump but when something is said in a definitive way I can't rest until I address it.

Source. can't argue with that
(i did think summoner would be beastmasters job, i just didn't think it had been confirmed)

Well, still not confirmed but that's one of their plans. I personally think it would be best to do it with 2 different classes (tamer > beastmaster & evoker > summoner) but certainly see the difficulty in doing that. Always best to go the simpler way when it comes to coding and balancing haha.
