Why is the North American community so much worse than the Japanese one?

I play on the Lich server in the EU datz centre. Since I started this game last summer, I have never come across total arseholes or self ritcious pricks.

I am on Moogle and yes I have already seen quite some mean words..stay around after S hunts and you will notice a good amount of heat. (Someone yesterday even said that the mother of the person that pulled "early" will die of cancer soon..) But you will have that everywhere. Be it NA, EU or even JP.

Heck in JP its worse because they might still be nice towards you but at the same time they will put you up on an blacklist that can be seen outside of the game..no matter if they are right or not this can "destroy" a person in this game. Heck even Yoshida stated that they will change some things about finding characters because people stalked those on the black list when they changed servers to hurt them even more. Honestly I will take any heat or argument that NA or EU players have over something horrible like this..

This is new to me. How exactly can someone be destroyed and stalked and hurt more in the game? What exactly happens to the blacklisted player? That's psycho level. I rather read cussing and whining in chat, too, 'cause no strings. What you mentioned sounds like stepping on poo. No matter where you go the smell follows you. F that.

Something was brought up from a couple of other pals, and I thought I'd share and expand upon what was said. The OP says NA...but really, this is a USA thing, from the comments. Mayhap some folks forgot that NA includes Mexico, Puerto Rico, Canada, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, and the Bahamas, just to name a few.

Regardless, this whole discussion turned entirely too political once the name Trump was uttered, and we all know political discussions can be fierce and divisive alone.

It's an easy target for those that just want to snark and retort rather than engage the deeper discussion from earlier, or actually look at the issue in all of its uncomfortable truth.

to throw my hat in, the reason why you may see the Japanese community as less toxic is due to an outsiders perspective, a age old phrase that is perfect for this is, "the grass is always greener on the other side" they can be 'toxic' in there own way and may think the EU or NA communities have it better in some respects.

The name could be replaced with that of literally any politician and it would set the tone for plenty of replies, whether they were in agreeance or (the more likely case) groans and/or eyes rolling.

Boiling it down to rid the political taint, you have the matter of deflecting responsibility. Making excuses, if you will. At the same time, even when you do encounter those who make a mistake and own up to it, you very well end up with someone else who flips out and either wants to have said person booted or tells them to do suggestive/harmful things to themselves or some such nonsense. Fortunately, in my years of MMOs and online gaming, such a case is extremely rare (thankfully).

Damned if you do, damned if you don't at times. :-/

Isn't Moogle the busiest EU server? I think the population of Lich is pretty small, because you can still buy plots of land easily and I've never had a problem when doing the monster hunts with other players (but I do play at screwy times for an EU player). I have only recently started to level my gathering skills, so I might see problems with the rare nodes down the line, but the only time I had some really unpleasant comments is when we were doing the final Ala Mego boss where you fight blondy.

When I have done my routletts, I often get to play with people from Moogle and they have always been friendly and chat when we run the 70 dungeons.

America likes the whole cowboy/rebel/bad boy image.. we don't like being criticized or told what to do... we are taught by society to get everything you can first... we love drama... you add in the anonymity of the internet and a generation that's grown up on not facing the repercussions of toxic behaviors and poof... shitty community... the more competitive the game the more toxic the community
